On May 12, 2011, the Department of Oriental Studies held a presentation and guidance session on the Ikenobo style of Ikebana flower arrangement. Professor Sasaki Yasuhito, a cultural ambassador of the Japanese government, from the Ikenobo School Research Institute (a school of Ikebana art), directly participated in the presentation and guided students on the Shoka Shofutai style of flower arrangement.

On May 13th, Associate Professor Vu Duc Nghieu, Vice Rector of the University, met and worked with Ms. Heather Mhairi Riddell, Ambassador of New Zealand to Vietnam.

And so, a heart that had dedicated its life to science, to training and inspiring its students, has ceased to beat. The man who carried that heart – Professor Nguyen Tai Can – has departed this world, leaving a void in academia; and in our hearts, amidst the sorrow and regret of his passing, there is a profound sense of separation. On May 10th, the Student Union and Student Association of the Faculty of History organized the final round of the 3rd "Following the Course of History" competition in 2011. The competition aimed to enhance students' general and in-depth knowledge of history while creating a healthy and beneficial playground for them.

A scientific seminar on the topic "Research and Training Cooperation in Office Management in Universities and Colleges in Vietnam" was organized by the Faculty of Archival Studies and Office Management of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (VNU Hanoi) in collaboration with the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (VNU Ho Chi Minh City), Saigon University, Hanoi College of Internal Affairs, and Central College of Pedagogy on May 11th.

To commemorate the 100th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's departure to seek a path to national salvation (June 5, 1911 - June 5, 2011), the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, the National Political Publishing House, the Ho Chi Minh Presidential Palace Historical Site, and the Ho Chi Minh Museum jointly organized a scientific conference entitled "Ho Chi Minh and the Path to National Liberation" on May 10 at the Ho Chi Minh Museum (Hanoi).

On May 7th and 8th, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities held the first postgraduate entrance examination of 2011. A total of 886 applications were received, of which 386 candidates applied to the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.

After a dramatic penalty shootout, the Women's Football Team of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities defeated the Team of the University of Foreign Languages, becoming the champion of the Vietnam National University Football Tournament this afternoon, May 8, 2011.
