A scientific seminar on the topic "Research and Training Cooperation in Office Management in Universities and Colleges in Vietnam" was organized by the Faculty of Archival Studies and Office Management of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (VNU Hanoi) in collaboration with the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (VNU Ho Chi Minh City), Saigon University, Hanoi College of Internal Affairs, and Central College of Pedagogy on May 11th.

Collaborative research and training in Office Management
A scientific seminar on the topic "Research and Training Cooperation in Office Management in Universities and Colleges in Vietnam" was organized by the Faculty of Archival Studies and Office Management of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (VNU Hanoi) in collaboration with the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (VNU Ho Chi Minh City), Saigon University, Hanoi College of Internal Affairs, and Central College of Pedagogy on May 11th.The seminar was attended by representatives from the co-organizing units and representatives from several other agencies and training institutions: Dong Nai University, Hai Duong College of Economics and Technology, Hue College of Education, the Office of the Ministry of Science and Technology, etc. In his opening remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Duc Nghieu – Vice Rector of the University – emphasized that the seminar was a forum for representatives from various schools to meet and discuss research and training issues related to office management human resources to meet the requirements of integration and development, while also sharing experiences and proposing solutions for future cooperation. Associate Professor Dr. Vu Thi Phung (Head of the Department of Archival Studies and Office Management - Hanoi University of Social Sciences and Humanities) presented the introductory report with information on the scale and form of training, output standards and training program, teaching staff and curriculum system, lectures, needs and measures for cooperation, linkage and collaboration in research and training of human resources in Office Management in the future.

Twenty presentations from representatives of various universities focused on the following key issues: affirming the special role of the Office Area/Office Department; analyzing the needs of organizations and businesses for human resources in Office Management, including professional office staff and those in charge of operations; and reflecting on the inconsistent understanding of the functions and tasks of the office in practice. The participating universities unanimously agreed on solutions to improve the quality of training for human resources in Office Management: Firstly, universities should cooperate to regularly organize seminars and scientific conferences to discuss and publish research results on theoretical issues related to the field of office and office management. Secondly, universities should regularly cooperate and support each other in compiling curricula, programs, lectures, introducing and providing teaching staff... to improve the quality of training. Third, the universities unanimously proposed to the Ministry of Education and Training to promptly develop and issue a framework program for the Office Management major at the college and university levels. Fourth, the universities agreed to strengthen cooperation and articulation to create opportunities for students to improve their qualifications at higher levels of education. Fifth, the universities agreed that the University of Social Sciences and Humanities will be the bridge for collaborative research and training activities in the field of Office Management among universities and colleges in Vietnam. This scientific seminar is also one of the practical activities commemorating the 15th anniversary of the establishment of the Faculty of Archival Studies and Office Management (1996 – 2011).
