This is an extracurricular activity to supplement learning and research for students majoring in Korean Studies, within the framework of cooperation between the Faculty and the Korean Literature Translation Institute.
“The Little Black Bowl” is a modern adaptation of the Jeju Island fairy tale “Samgong-bonpoori” through a modern perspective, experimental reality, imagination, and traditional adaptation. The main character of the Little Black Bowl appears in the play, exploring the positive aspects of life and expressing the qualities of women. “The Little Black Bowl” is the first play for children in Korea and is highly appreciated. The fact that the actors perform traditional musical instruments while acting and one actor plays multiple roles is a factor that makes the play more attractive to the audience.
The play “The Black Bowl Girl” by the BST troupe was first performed in 2003, and in 2004, it won awards at the 13th Seoul Children’s Drama Awards such as Best Work, Best Script, and Best Performance. For more than 10 years, the play has been invited to festivals in about 12 countries, including Japan, Australia, Romania, Cameroon, Mexico, etc. and has been highly appreciated by audiences around the world for its artistic value.
BST Theatre Group was founded in 2002, with the goal of “using theatre to turn games into drama and dreaming of a world where drama becomes game”. BST is a group of professionals who work together to create performing arts and cultural arts education, bringing the lives of diverse people into drama.
