The workshop serves as a launching point for research activities related to project KX.04.15/16-20, encompassing the theoretical basis and research framework of social development management (SDM) in general and SDM in Vietnam in particular.
The workshop attracted considerable attention from many scientists from research institutes, universities, and management agencies at all levels, such as Assoc. Prof. Dr. Doan Minh Huan (Alternate Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party, Editor-in-Chief of the Communist Magazine), Prof. Dang Canh Khanh (Former Director of the Institute for Research and Development), Prof. Duong Xuan Ngoc (Former Deputy Director of the Academy of Journalism and Communication), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Duy Dung (Former Director of the Institute for Southeast Asian Studies)... Nearly 20 papers were presented at the workshop, addressing a wide range of issues with different approaches related to socio-economic development management.

Professor Pham Quang Minh delivered the opening remarks at the conference.
At the workshop, delegates unanimously agreed on the importance and urgency of the research issue. This is a problem that requires an interdisciplinary approach, with the cooperation of experts in many fields such as Management Science, Political Science, Sociology, Economics, Cultural Studies, etc.
The prevailing opinion is that social development has been and continues to be a special concern for leaders and strategists of all nations, especially developing countries. In reality, every nation strives to find its own path to development. Many different theories of development and development management have emerged, and in practice, there are also many different methods, models, and approaches in development and development management across countries. Which development management model is suitable for Vietnam's economic, cultural, and social characteristics? What lessons can be learned from the world?...

Associate Professor Dr. Doan Minh Huan (Alternate Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party, Editor-in-Chief of the Communist Magazine) delivered a speech at the Conference.
Based on the above problem statement, several presentations delved into key concepts in socio-economic development management (SED), such as inequality, social stratification, social conflict, social welfare, human security, and social governance. Some presentations raised several theoretical approaches to SED in Vietnam today, including the concept of SED, its objectives, the subjects of SED, the role of financial resources in SED, and the diversification of SED methods. Approaches to social development were also discussed, ranging from the historical perspective of social development to economic perspectives and the concept of change management.

Professor Dr. Dang Canh Khanh delivered a speech at the conference.
Regarding the application of social development management theory to practice in Vietnam, some presentations addressed methodological issues such as: how to apply Marxist-Leninist viewpoints, Ho Chi Minh Thought, and the viewpoints of the Communist Party of Vietnam; the need to assess the strengths and weaknesses of each development theory when applied, taking into account the specific characteristics of Vietnam; the need for an objective and comprehensive assessment of the current state of Vietnamese society, as well as a thorough understanding of the challenges to management in the 21st century under the conditions of the fourth industrial revolution…
Furthermore, many scientists have delved into analyzing the social realities in specific areas of social management in Vietnam, such as: ensuring human security; the legal basis and role of local self-governance; poverty reduction and urbanization… They have also suggested studying the cultural heritage of our ancestors in the field of social management, drawing valuable lessons from it, and promoting positive and progressive elements from national traditions. For example: lessons on combating bureaucratic administrative mechanisms and rectifying social order and discipline; lessons on combining law and ethics in management…
In particular, many presentations chose to research and analyze models and lessons learned in social development management in many countries around the world to provide a comparative perspective with Vietnam, such as: social development management models in the United States and China; dealing with an aging society in South Korea; social development management viewed from the social welfare system for the elderly in Thailand…
