On August 2nd, 2012, Professor Song Ja Rip, Member of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, Minister of Higher Education, and President of Kim Il Sung National University, visited and worked at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh, the Rector of the University, along with representatives from various departments, held a formal and cordial reception for the Minister.

On August 2nd, 2012, Professor Song Ja Rip, Member of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, Minister of Higher Education, and President of Kim Il Sung National University, visited and worked at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh, the Rector of the University, along with representatives from various departments, held a formal and cordial reception for the Minister.On behalf of the faculty and students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Professor Nguyen Van Khanh expressed his joy and honor in welcoming Professor Song Ja Rip, affirming that this will be an important event opening a new chapter in the cooperative relationship between the two universities in particular and the two countries in general. The Rector also briefly introduced the activities of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, affirming its position as a leading training institution in the country for social sciences and humanities disciplines in Vietnam. For nearly 70 years of development, the University has always been a high-quality training and research institution, a cradle for training talented individuals, outstanding leaders and managers for the country. Many famous scientists, both domestically and internationally, have studied and taught here. The University also had early cooperative relationships with universities in North Korea and continues to maintain these good relationships to this day. Professor Nguyen Van Khanh emphasized that, based on the bilateral cooperation agreement recently signed between Kim Il Sung National University and Vietnam National University, Hanoi, cooperative relationships between the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and member universities of Kim Il Sung National University will have favorable conditions for strong development. Professor Song Ja Rip expressed his pleasure at visiting the University – a renowned university with a long tradition in Vietnam and many groundbreaking achievements in recent times. Professor Song Ja Rip shared the common concern of both governments regarding the role and importance of the social sciences and humanities as foundational sciences for the development of individuals, society, and other scientific fields. He also shared the important development directions of higher education in North Korea and Kim Il Sung National University, and proposed promoting exchanges and cooperation between faculty and students of the two universities in the future.
