In the 2012 summer volunteer campaign, volunteer students from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities continued to Soc Son district (Hanoi). This year, there were 3 teams operating in 3 disadvantaged communes: Kim Lu, Duc Hoa and Dong Xuan, lasting from July 15 to August 5.
In Kim Lu commune
The volunteer student team in Kim Lu commune quickly implemented meaningful activities demonstrating the youth's strength in four villages: Xuan Duong, Kim Thuong, Kim Trung, Kim Ha. The focus of the Kim Lu team's activities is teaching children and teenagers. Therefore, the team quickly implemented teaching in Xuan Duong village (the largest village in Kim Lu commune in terms of both area and population). The biggest difficulty the team encountered was organizing a teaching session for the children here. The volunteer team had to arrange chairs in the village's cultural house as tables so that the children had a place to write. The volunteer teams had to teach students from grades two to four at the same time, but the necessary teaching equipment was almost non-existent. There were no boards, no tables, no separate rooms for each grade. Many children did not even have textbooks, no chairs...

Despite the difficulties, the whole team always tries their best to organize lessons for the children. The teachers in the "blue shirts" always enthusiastically teach when the children do not understand the lesson. Many days, the whole team has just returned from dredging canals, after lunch and sleeping for 30 minutes, the children knock on the door and demand to come in. The teachers have to give up their lunch break to teach. After each lesson, most of the teachers lose their voices and become hoarse, but smiles always appear on the lips of the volunteer blue shirts. Because everyone understands that they are contributing to nurturing the green buds of dreams for the children here.
In Duc Hoa commune
The 2012 summer volunteer team in Duc Hoa commune included students from 4 faculties in the school: History, Management Science, Psychology and Anthropology with a total of 38 students and 2 campaign reporters from the Faculty of Journalism and Communication. Coming to a completely new environment, strange to the land and strange to the people, the volunteers were initially very bewildered. With the enthusiastic welcome of the commune's Youth Union Executive Committee, on the first day the whole team settled down and settled down, and organized the rules of living at the Duc Hau village kindergarten. After that, the members of the team's leadership grasped the main situation of the commune and made a detailed plan of activities for the team during the 20 days of living and working here. The team also established working committees: Medical Committee, Logistics Committee, Professional Committee, Cultural and Sports Committee, Reproductive Health Propaganda Committee, etc. After a week of work, with the support and facilitation of the commune leadership, the team organized the cleaning and whitewashing of the Duc Hoa Martyrs' Cemetery Memorial. Together with the Youth Union Executive Committee, the commune's youth and volunteer students cleaned the roads between Duc Hau, Ben, Trung and Chua villages. Community service at the national historical relic site of Duc Hau village's family and pagoda. In the evenings, the team divided into 7 small groups to 7 villages to help the Youth Unions in organizing summer activities for children. Although the team's life was lacking and still had many difficulties, overcoming all circumstances, with the determination of the whole team, all difficulties were gradually overcome and stabilized. With the encouragement of the team leaders, the school's Youth Union Executive Committee, and the commune leaders, the volunteer students always try their best to create a good impression in the hearts of the people about the green-shirt soldiers who are devoted to the future of the country.
In Dong Xuan commune
Together with two volunteer teams in Kim Lu and Duc Hoa communes, the Dong Xuan commune volunteer team quickly settled down and started working. The team's first job was a working session at the Dong Xuan commune cemetery to celebrate the 65th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day. The team's main activities were cutting grass, collecting garbage, pruning trees and cleaning the tombstones of martyrs. With a serious working spirit and enthusiasm, the cleaning and sanitation work around the cemetery was completed after more than 2 hours of work.

In the following days of the week, the volunteer student team went to Ben, Dong, and Phu Tho villages to clean up the roads, dredge the drains, and continue to clear and weed the area around the cemetery. Despite the often hot weather and difficulties in working tools, the team still completed their assigned tasks excellently and received many compliments from local leaders. Regarding the organization of summer activities for children in the villages, the team planned to carry them out every evening. After a week, the volunteer student team from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in Duc Hoa commune has reached 7 out of 12 villages in the commune and is currently organizing activities every evening in 5 villages: Ca, Dong, Ben, Phu Tho, and Thuong. After the first week of activities, with a scientific working method, combined with youthful energy and enthusiasm, the volunteer student team of Dong Xuan commune not only reaped many achievements that were recognized by the union and the commune, but also built a strong solidarity, a warm family atmosphere among 34 members. This is the driving force, a great source of encouragement to help the whole team continue to strive to complete the work of the next 2 weeks so that the summer volunteer activities of 2012 can truly bring into play their meaning.
