The activities of the Youth Union and Student Association of the University began in early September 2014. Through the affiliated Youth Union branches, clubs/teams/groups, the Youth Union and Student Association of the University coordinated with other units in the university to guide new students through the enrollment procedures, the process of transferring Youth Union membership, and the procedures for registering to join the Student Association, etc.

During the first week of political education at the beginning of the academic year, Comrade Tran Bach Hieu (Secretary of the Youth Union) and Comrade Nguyen Thi Mai Lan (Deputy Secretary of the Youth Union, President of the Student Association) on behalf of the Standing Committee of the Youth Union and the Secretariat of the Student Association introduced the Youth Union and Student Association of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities to the new students, providing them with a close and familiar understanding of the youth union and student movement of the University.

Also in September, after the official start of the academic year on September 8th, 2014, the Youth Union and Student Association of the University launched a series of exciting activities leading up to the organization of the 2014 Freshman Welcome Day (held on September 27th and 28th, 2014).

The 2014 Humanities Student Talent Search Competition - USSH's Got Talent, held as part of the 2014 Freshman Orientation Day, was a vibrant highlight and the first major event, with the preliminary round taking place on September 16, 2014. The competition was open to all students in the regular training programs of the University. This was a platform for freshmen to learn various skills, get acquainted with extracurricular activities in the university environment, and showcase their talents and abilities.
The Grand Finale of the Competition will be held during the 2014 Freshman Orientation Day (September 27, 2014).

The 2014 Freshman Orientation Day was a series of events from morning to night, taking place over two days, including: the "Students Say No to Domestic Violence" event organized by the University's Youth Union in coordination with the Central Youth Union; an exhibition of the best photographs from the 2014 "Humanities in Me" competition; a seminar on "Preparing for New Students"; a screening of the film "Living with History" and interaction with the film crew; a recruitment day for members of clubs/teams/groups under the University's Youth Union and Student Association; booths serving new students; the "USSH's Got Talent" Gala Night - the final round of the 2014 Humanities Student Talent Search Competition; and the "Green Humanities" Volunteer Day.
The 2014 Freshman Orientation Day is the largest-ever welcoming program for new students organized by the Youth Union and Student Association of the University, promising many exciting and practical experiences for freshmen of the QH-2014-X cohort in particular, and students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in general.
