He is widely known to audiences for his famous documentary films that have won numerous national and international film festival awards such asThe Steppe Tales, Mad Sister Năm, The Elephant Hunters, The Paths of Justice…Notably, this leading documentary filmmaker in Vietnam is a former student of the History Department, graduating from the University of Hanoi in 1979.

During the exchange session, director and Meritorious Artist Lai Van Sinh spent a considerable amount of time sharing his experiences in journalistic practice with journalism students: the key points in a documentary film or television report that each author needs to pay attention to, as well as the qualities and skills a filmmaker needs when facing reality.

The knowledge that the students had learned at school, as well as the new and changing aspects of Vietnamese and international cinema and television in the current reality, were vividly recalled and shared by him with the journalism students.

Many concerns and questions about the film and television fields from young students were clarified by director Lai Van Sinh. The "golden lotus" of Vietnamese documentary cinema also advised students to seek out new perspectives and maintain a creative vision in each of their film and television projects.

When asked how to excel in journalism, director and Meritorious Artist Lai Van Sinh frankly stated:Journalism is a demanding profession, especially requiring passion. If you have enough confidence in your passion, I believe you will succeed in a career in journalism."

Interacting and learning from leading experts in the field of journalism, including authors who have made a name for themselves with many famous works, will certainly help journalism students increase their understanding of the profession and learn more experience for the future. Bringing journalism students closer to the practical activities of the industry is the goal that the Faculty of Journalism and Communication and the CMP Center will continue to develop in the future through exchange programs and thematic talks.
