In front of a large number of staff, students and trainees of the whole school, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh gave a speech reviewing the outstanding results that the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has achieved in the past school year.

In the field of training, the University has completed the project of planning training majors and majors for the period 2014-2020; the rate of students with good and excellent academic performance in NVCL training programs reached 47.5%, CLC system reached 63%; the scale of doctoral training enrollment increased more than 2 times; 02 new postgraduate training programs were introduced, namely PhD in International Relations and PhD in Anthropology, bringing the total number of postgraduate training programs of the University to 59.
Regarding scientific research, the University has been and is implementing 14 state-level projects, 17 projects under the National Science and Technology Development Fund, 14 projects under the VNU-Hanoi level, and 04 projects under the city level. The University has published over 600 scientific articles and organized 28 seminars and workshops, including 19 international seminars and workshops. The University has completed the Project on assessing Vietnamese language proficiency for foreigners, which has been highly appreciated by the scientific community.
The quality of the staff has been improved, including 17 more staff successfully defending their doctoral theses, 08 lecturers appointed to the title of Professor and Associate Professor. The number of lecturers with postgraduate degrees currently accounts for more than 90%, including 184 PhDs, 90 Professors and Associate Professors.
Regarding international cooperation, the School signed 20 more cooperation documents with prestigious partners, bringing the total number of international partners to 200.

Assigning tasks for the new school year, the Rector emphasized: teachers and students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities need to focus all efforts on promoting the implementation of Resolution 6 of the Central Committee on the development of science and technology and Resolution 8 of the Central Committee on fundamental and comprehensive innovation of education and training. The new school year is also associated with many important events of the country and of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, including the 70th anniversary of the founding of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and the 20th anniversary of the founding of the University. In that context, some of the key tasks of the University are identified as:
- Continue to innovate teaching content and methods, synchronously apply positive factors of credit training to improve training quality;
- Successfully complete existing state-level topics, implement solutions to increase international publications, and build strong research groups;
- Continue to rapidly develop qualified staff.

To the new students of the QH-2014-X course, the Principal sent his warmest feelings and welcome to them on joining the student community of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities: “The school and teachers hope that you will soon stabilize your thinking, determine the right motivation for studying, constantly nurture your ambitions and dreams to practice, strive and study well for your future career. You have the responsibility to preserve, cultivate and further glorify the fine traditions of a leading university in the country."

Also at the opening ceremony, the school awarded 9 valedictorians in 2014; 63 students with good academic results, 59 students with achievements in staff work, and 51 students who overcame difficulties to study well in the 2013-2014 school year.
