The Zensho Japan Research Support Program continues for another five years.

On March 28, 2016, Associate Professor Dr. Pham Quang Minh (Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities - VNU) had a meeting and worked with Associate Professor Dr. Iwatsuki Junichi - University of Tokyo. The meeting was also attended by representatives of the Faculty of Oriental Studies and the Office of Cooperation and Development.

The Zensho Japan Research Support Program continues for another five years.

At the meeting, Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Quang Minh said that the University of Social Sciences and Humanities is a leading university in training and research in the field of social sciences and humanities. The University currently has 16 faculties, with 12 centers and research institutes. In 1995, the University established the Department of Japanese Studies under the Faculty of Oriental Studies and conducted training from undergraduate to doctoral levels in majors in Japanese studies. Among the University's partners, the President affirmed that Japan is always an important partner in the international cooperation development strategy.

Associate Professor, Dr. Iwatsuki Junichi highly appreciated the welcome of USSH and said that the cooperation plan between the University of Tokyo and USSH, specifically the Zensho Japan Research Support Program, will be extended for another 5 years. The professor highly appreciated the efforts that both sides have made during the time. He also believes that the future of Japanese studies will be expanded, not only within the framework of Vietnam but also on a regional scale.

Associate Professor Dr. Pham Quang Minh said that Japanese Studies has great potential, especially in the current new context. From there, the President has given new directions for the “phase 2” of this program, in order to achieve better results. The President also pledged to create conditions for the University of Tokyo to further expand the influence of the program.

Starting operations in November 2011, up to now, the Zensho program has invested in equipment and materials for research and study, and periodically organized teaching and academic research activities, short-term practical courses, and received international students to study at the University of Tokyo.
