The 28th Congress of the University's Trade Union took place on December 12, 2009, with the participation of 128 delegates representing 487 union members throughout the University. Attending the congress was Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Kim Dinh - Chairman of the Trade Union of Vietnam National University, Hanoi.

The 28th Congress of the University's Trade Union took place on December 12, 2009, with the participation of 128 delegates representing 487 union members throughout the University. Attending the congress was Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Kim Dinh - Chairman of the Trade Union of Vietnam National University, Hanoi.

The conference heard reports on the results of the internal meeting on December 11th; a report summarizing the activities of the Trade Union Executive Committee during the 27th term and the work direction for the 28th term; and a report reviewing the activities of the Executive Committee during the 27th term.

Reports have confirmed that the trade union movement in the past term has achieved quite comprehensive results in various fields. Trade union activities have closely followed its functions and tasks, focusing on political and ideological education; participating in emulation movements and social and charitable activities; implementing grassroots democracy; participating in professional management; upholding principles, regulations, and policies; ensuring unity and solidarity within the university; and caring for the material and spiritual well-being of union members. Basically, the Trade Union has fulfilled the targets set forth in the Resolution of the 27th Congress, contributing to the stability and development of the University in general as well as the trade union movement in particular. With these results, in the past two years, the Trade Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has received Certificates of Merit from the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor for 2 collectives and 2 individuals; and Certificates of Merit from the Vietnam Education Trade Union for 4 collectives and 4 individuals. The Trade Union of Vietnam National University, Hanoi awarded Certificates of Commendation to 15 collectives and 67 individuals. Among them, the trade unions of the Faculty of Management Science, the Faculty of Psychology, the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language, and the Trade Unions I and III of the Rectorate were leading units in the trade union's activities.

However, some limitations in the school's trade union activities were also pointed out, such as: a lack of trade union activities demonstrating coordination with the administration in professional work, not considering the promotion of professional activities as a measure of the depth of trade union activities, and in some places, the role and position of the trade union organization have not been properly recognized...

The activities of the University's Trade Union during its 28th term (2009-2012) aimed at the following goal: "Continuing to innovate the content and methods of trade union activities, mobilizing union members to participate more actively in the comprehensive reform of the University's activities, improving the effectiveness of the credit-based training method, striving to improve the material and spiritual lives of employees, and encouraging all staff and faculty to join hands and contribute to building strong trade unions at all levels, meeting the increasingly high demands of the Capital, the country, and the University in the new development stage."

To achieve the above objectives, the key tasks of trade union activities will include::

  • Continue to innovate and improve the quality and effectiveness of political and ideological education and propaganda work, promote emulation movements, and build a team of staff and faculty members who are politically sound and professionally competent, meeting the development requirements of the School in the new phase.
  • Encourage union members to cooperate with the government in actively participating in credit-based training, promoting training programs that meet international standards (16+23), and completing scientific research projects on time.
  • To effectively fulfill its representative function, care for the well-being and protect the legitimate rights and interests of union members, and promote social activities.
  • Focus on women's affairs and promote cultural and sports activities.
  • Continue to innovate the content and methods of trade union activities, and build strong trade union organizations at all levels.

* Several targets have been approved by the congress.:

  • 100% of trade union members have been briefed on the Party's Resolution and the Resolutions of the Trade Union Congress at all levels.
  • 100% of union members strictly abide by the policies and laws of the State, the regulations and rules of the industry and the School. No union members have had a third child.
  • 85% of union members achieved the title of "Advanced Worker".
  • 75% of female staff members achieved the title "Excellent at work, competent at home".
  • 100% of union members participated in emulation movements and charitable activities.
  • We recommend 30 outstanding trade union members to the Party for Party membership.
  • No union members violated the code of ethics for teachers or engaged in social vices.
  • 100% of the departmental trade unions achieved the title of "Strong Trade Union".
  • The school's trade union collective was awarded the title of "Outstanding and Strong Trade Union".

The conference voted and elected the Executive Committee of the School's Trade Union for the 28th term, consisting of 14 members:

  • Ngo Thi Kim Huong (Department of Sociology)
