28th Congress of Delegates of the Trade Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities

The 28th Congress of the University's Trade Union took place on December 12, 2009 with the participation of 128 delegates, representing 487 union members of the entire University. Attending the congress was Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Kim Dinh - Chairman of the VNU Trade Union.

The 28th Congress of the University's Trade Union took place on December 12, 2009 with the participation of 128 delegates, representing 487 union members of the entire University. Attending the congress was Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Kim Dinh - Chairman of the VNU Trade Union.

The conference heard the report on the results of the internal meeting on December 11; the summary report on the Union activities of the Executive Committee for the XXVII term and the working direction for the XXVIII term; and the review report on the activities of the Executive Committee for the XXVII term.

Reports have confirmed that the trade union movement in the last term has achieved quite comprehensive results in all fields. Trade union activities have closely followed the functions and tasks, focused on political and ideological education; responded to emulation movements, social and charitable activities; implemented grassroots democracy; participated in professional management; upheld principles, regimes, and policies, ensured solidarity and unity in the school, and cared for the material and spiritual life of union members. Basically, the Trade Union has completed the targets set out in the Resolution of the XXVII Congress, contributing to the stability and development of the school in general and the trade union movement in particular. With that result, in 2 years, the Trade Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has been awarded Certificates of Merit to 02 groups and 02 individuals by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor; the Vietnam Education Trade Union has awarded Certificates of Merit to 04 groups and 04 individuals; The VNU Trade Union awarded Certificates of Merit to 15 groups and 67 individuals. In particular, the trade unions of the Faculty of Management Science, Faculty of Psychology, Faculty of Vietnamese Studies and Language, Trade Union I, and Trade Union III of the Rectorate are the leading units in the trade union movements.

However, some limitations in the School's trade union activities were also pointed out such as: lack of trade union activities demonstrating coordination with the government in professional work, not considering promoting professional activities as a measure of depth in trade union activities, the role and position of trade union organizations in some places are not yet properly placed...

The activities of the School's trade union in the XXVIII term (2009-2012) aim at: "Continue to innovate the content and methods of trade union activities, mobilize trade union members to participate more actively in the comprehensive innovation of the School's activities, improve the effectiveness of the credit-based training method, strive to improve the material and spiritual life of workers, mobilize all cadres and civil servants to join hands and contribute to building strong trade unions at all levels, meeting the increasingly high requirements of the Capital, the country and the school in the new development stage".

* To achieve the above goals, the key tasks of trade union activities will include::

  • Continue to innovate and improve the quality and effectiveness of political and ideological education and propaganda work, promote emulation movements, build a team of staff who are politically steadfast and professionally skilled, meeting the development requirements of the School in the new period.
  • Encourage union members to coordinate with the government to actively participate in credit-based training, promote international-level training programs (16+23), and complete scientific research topics on time.
  • Perform well the representative function, care for the lives, protect the legitimate rights and interests of union members, and promote social activities.
  • Focus on women's work and promote cultural and sports activities.
  • Continue to innovate the content and methods of trade union activities, build strong unions at all levels.

* Some targets have been approved by the congress:

  • 100% of union members are fully informed of Party Resolutions and Union Congress Resolutions at all levels.
  • 100% of union members strictly comply with the policies and laws of the State, the rules and regulations of the industry and the School. No union member has a third child.
  • 85% of union members achieved the title of "Advanced Workers".
  • 75% of female cadres achieved the title "Good at school, good at home".
  • 100% of union members respond to emulation movements and charitable activities.
  • Introduce 30 outstanding union members to the Party for admission.
  • No union members violate teachers' ethics or have social evils.
  • 100% of departmental unions achieved the title of "Strong Union"
  • The School's trade union achieved the title of "Excellent Strong Trade Union".

The conference voted and elected the School's Trade Union Executive Committee for the XXVIII term, consisting of 14 comrades:
