Along with the development in education and training, contributing to improving the quality of training at the University, the Youth Union has promoted research and gradually applied the credit-based training model, referencing the operational models of many other units. Based on the practical situation, the University's Youth Union has made timely adjustments to its organizational methods, especially strengthening coordination and division of work between the Youth Union and the Student Association to suit the new situation. This is entirely consistent with the general direction of the higher-level Youth Union as well as the specific characteristics of the organizational model of youth organizations in Vietnam and has yielded clear results.

In the area of staff training, the University Youth Union has effectively maintained annual training programs, with many sub-units proactively engaging in this work (Philosophy, Sociology, Management Science, etc.). The University Youth Union has also actively sent staff to attend training courses organized by higher-level Youth Unions to learn and make timely adjustments to the content of its work to ensure consistency and uniformity.

In particular, the proactive and consistent approach in Party development has yielded clear results; the work of guiding, training, and recommending outstanding members to join the Communist Party of Vietnam has exceeded the set targets.

In the context of national integration, the Youth Union of the University has developed many collaborative activities to strengthen the links between the university's youth and other units within and outside Hanoi National University, such as: the "Journey to the Roots" program, the Expanded Aerobics Competition for Humanities Students, the commemoration of World Population Day, the Student Singing Contest of 5 Universities, and sending 550 students to participate in the World Vesak Celebration. During the 2007-2009 term, the Youth Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities consistently affirmed its pioneering role in youth union work and youth movements within the Hanoi National University's Youth Union units, making significant contributions in both scale and depth. The university's Youth Union has established relationships with many external businesses, attracting significant funding to effectively support the diverse activities of the university's youth, such as Mobile Fone, VietnamMobile, the General Department of Population, Song Da 7 Urban Investment and Construction Company, and Viễn Thông A. Continuing to maintain and enhance community volunteer activities enriches the tradition of mutual support and compassion, showcasing the unique characteristics of the youth of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in their collaborations with partner organizations and the wider community.

Building upon the achievements mentioned above, during the 2009-2011 term, the activities of the University's Youth Union aimed to further affirm the position of the Youth Union organization within the University's political system, within the Hanoi National University's Youth Union movement, and gradually assert its leading role in the Capital's Youth Union movement; to build a strong Youth Union organization, adapting to the credit-based training system, meeting the needs of its members and students; and to actively contribute to the comprehensive development of the University. The main direction of activities was to use political and ideological education as a guiding principle, focusing on supporting the comprehensive development of Youth Union members and students, based on effectively promoting the role of the Youth Union's staff; to promote the core political role of the Youth Union organization, strengthen the Student Association movement, create a unified and cohesive bloc, build a humanistic student style, and aim to contribute to building a youthful, disciplined, and civilized university. Strengthening positive external relations activities to promote the image of the school's youth in the community. This term aims to achieve the following important targets:

  • 100% of union members study and research the guidelines, policies, and strategies of the Party and the State; and update their political and social information.
  • 100% of union members are free from social vices;
  • Each Youth Union branch has at least one effective professional model/activity;
  • 100% of Youth Union officials at the branch level have received training in skills and professional expertise; 100% of Youth Union officials have academic performance rated as good or higher.
  • 100% of union members registered to participate in the union member training program;
  • At least 100 union members were recommended for admission as party members.

On December 25-26, 2009, the 6th Congress of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (2009-2011 term) will be held. This marks the end of 5 congresses – 14 years of building and developing the university's youth union organization. Many challenges and opportunities lie ahead. With courage, creativity, and integration, we hope that the union members will continue to build the youth union's work and youth movement in the university, worthy of the traditions of the former University of Hanoi, worthy of the Third-Class Labor Medal awarded by the State, and will always be a leading flag in the national university youth union movement, the city's youth union movement, and beyond.
