Professor Detlef Briesen gives a presentation on regional development research

Professor Detlef Briesen (University of Giessen - Germany) gave presentations and discussions on the topic "Development cooperation in the field of regional studies, regional development and sustainability in Europe and Southeast Asia" at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, at the invitation of the Faculty of Political Science.

Professor Detlef Briesen (University of Giessen - Germany) gave presentations and discussions on the topic "Development cooperation in the field of regional studies, regional development and sustainability in Europe and Southeast Asia" at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, at the invitation of the Faculty of Political Science.The presentations take place in the mornings from February 14 to 17, 2012, with specific content:
  • Spatial analysis as a methodological and theoretical approach in social and cultural science research: from local, regional, national to global studies and vice versa.
  • The interdisciplinary nature of the regional approach in social and cultural studies: examples of research from history, geography, economics, anthropology, sociology and political science.
  • Traditions/Experiences and Institutions of Area Studies in Europe. Examples from Germany, Britain and France.
  • Regional development and its “pillars”: ecological sustainability, economic and social relations.


The presentations were attended by a large number of cadres, students and trainees from the fields of Political Science, Vietnamese Studies, Archival Studies and Office Management, International Studies, Philosophy, etc. This is an activity to enhance exchanges with international scholars, discuss academic issues to improve the quality of training and research. According to the plan, Professor Detlef Briesen will return to Vietnam in early April.
