On the morning of February 11, 2012, the Veterans Association of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities held its 4th Congress (2012-2017 term). The Congress was successfully concluded.Attending the Congress were representatives from the Hanoi City Veterans Association, the Party Committee and Board of Directors, various organizations and associations within the University, and members of the Veterans Association of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. At the Congress, delegates listened to and discussed reports on "Summary of work in the third term and directions and tasks for the fourth term," and "Summary of contributions to the draft of the Hanoi City Veterans Association and suggestions for amending the Charter of the Vietnam Veterans Association presented to the fifth Congress." Established on December 22, 2001, the University's Veterans Association currently has 8 branches and 61 members, including 55 Party members, 2 Doctors of Science, 34 PhDs, 6 Masters, 2 Professors, and 30 Associate Professors. Many veteran members hold key leadership positions at Vietnam National University, Hanoi, the University, and its units. During the past term, the school's Veterans Association had one member awarded the Second Class Labor Medal, eight members awarded the Third Class Labor Medal, and thirteen members awarded Certificates of Merit from the Prime Minister... The school's Veterans Association also received Certificates of Merit from the Central Committee of the Vietnam Veterans Association in 2008, 2009, and 2010, as well as a Certificate of Merit from the Central Committee of the Vietnam Veterans Association for the 5-year emulation movement from 2004-2009, along with many other certificates and emulation titles for collectives and members. During the past term, the school's Veterans Association successfully built a clean and strong association in terms of political ideology; actively participated in carrying out the school's political tasks; and cared for the material and spiritual lives of its members. Members have also consistently been at the forefront of social work, actively supporting and assisting fellow countrymen and comrades. However, as an incumbent association with many characteristics different from local associations, the school's Veterans Association still faces many difficulties and uncertainties in implementing its work. In the next term, the school's Veterans Association needs to strengthen coordination with other organizations based on specific plans to effectively carry out the school's tasks.

Speaking at the Congress, Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh - Secretary of the Party Committee and Rector - on behalf of the school's leadership, expressed his confidence that the members, with their courage and intellect forged in the fires of war, will continue to strive diligently, excellently fulfilling all assigned tasks, worthy of the title "Heroic Soldiers of Uncle Ho" on the educational and scientific fronts. At the Congress, delegates elected the Executive Committee of the School's Veterans Association for the fourth term, consisting of five members: Nguyen Chi Hoa, Pham Van Quyet, Pham Dinh Lan, Tran Xuan Hong, and Bui Xuan Quang. Comrade Nguyen Chi Hoa was also elected by the Congress as a delegate to attend the Congress of the Hanoi City Veterans Association.
