Attending the working session, on the side of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities were Professor Hoang Anh Tuan, Rector; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dao Thanh Truong, Vice Rector; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong, Vice Rector; Dr. Pham Hoang Giang, Head of the Philosophy Department; and representatives from the Training and Scientific Research Management departments.
Among the guests were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Tai Dong – Director of the Institute of Philosophy, Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dinh Van Trung – Director of the Institute of Physics, Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences, along with many lecturers and researchers interested in the field of Philosophy.
Opening the meeting, Rector Hoang Anh Tuan shared: The University of Social Sciences and Humanities is one of the key training units under the Vietnam National University, Hanoi, and a leading institution in training and research in social sciences and humanities in Vietnam. Particularly in the research and teaching programs of basic sciences, VNU-USSH has the responsibility to develop new interdisciplinary training directions, keeping pace with modern trends while still maintaining the classical academic quality.
The Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, is a prestigious and high-quality institution for training research and teaching personnel in Philosophy nationwide. Students at the Faculty are equipped with knowledge ranging from fundamental to advanced levels in Philosophy, enabling them to firmly grasp the stances and viewpoints of Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh Thought, apply them to solve practical problems, and integrate with the international philosophical community. With an academic foundation aimed at building interdisciplinary research and training directions, the Faculty's curriculum is regularly updated and reformed to equip students with practical knowledge closely linked to scientific research activities.
Rector Hoang Anh Tuan put forward proposals regarding the establishment of a strong research group, the direction of research topics, and philosophy seminars in the near future.
Speaking at the meeting, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Hoang Hai - Permanent Vice Director of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, acknowledged the contributions and achievements of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, while emphasizing the urgent need to innovate the content and methods of teaching in the field of Philosophy. According to him, with the advantage of being a pioneering institution in Philosophy training in Vietnam, innovation in the teaching program of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities will have a significant impact, contributing to affirming the importance of Philosophy in the Vietnamese education landscape. Currently, following the interdisciplinary trend in university training, and with the two new approaches of "Philosophy in Science" and "Science in Philosophy," the University of Social Sciences and Humanities needs to research, understand, and choose a suitable approach that prioritizes the interests and quality of learners.
Accordingly, with its strengths in expertise and multidisciplinary approach, along with the advantage of having students from various educational levels, Vietnam National University, Hanoi will support the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in researching and updating professional knowledge for the Philosophy major, through specific activities such as publishing books, promoting international publications, and conducting joint research on Philosophy through major issues in modern society.
Mr. Nguyen Hoang Hai - Permanent Deputy Director of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, delivered a speech at the working session.
Vice Rector Dao Thanh Truong stated that, with its experience in interdisciplinary training and research, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities will promote international publications, laying the groundwork for building strong research groups in the field of Philosophy. The university has been organizing numerous seminars to disseminate knowledge to postgraduate students, doctoral candidates, and faculty members on specific topics related to research projects and social realities. Accordingly, the compilation of books and lecture notes on these topics for inclusion in the teaching system will also be implemented.

Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen An Lich – Former leader of the first generation of the Philosophy Department at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, and Vice President of the Philosophy Association – presented several viewpoints on the importance of student orientation and the role of collaboration with universities worldwide. In the new context, the field of Philosophy needs to be specialized for each profession, demonstrating high relevance and connectivity with other scientific disciplines.
During the meeting, the parties agreed on three key areas to focus on in the coming period:
- Innovate philosophy education towards interdisciplinary approaches and build strong university-level research groups in the field of Philosophy.
- Develop a system of learning materials and translate research papers and books into multiple languages.
- A series of professional training programs for the school's lecturers.
Associate Professor Tran Hai Minh – Deputy Head of the Philosophy Department, Academy of Journalism and Communication, affirmed the success of the cooperation between VNU – USSH and research institutes.
Dr. Tran Thi Dieu proposed several recommendations regarding creating conditions for students to pursue dual degrees, providing scholarships, and expanding into other majors.
