The 35 performances from the participating teams brought many exciting and surprising moments for the judges and the audience. Among them, the most surprising and suspenseful was the proposal to award the "Most Impressive Contestant" prize to Jon Ji Song (from North Korea, a contestant from the Foreign Trade University team)! Jon Ji Song surpassed nearly 100 other international students participating in the debate to receive unanimous votes from the judges!

Associate Professor Pham Van Duong (Deputy Director of the Institute of Cultural Research, Head of the Judging Panel) shared: The judging panel particularly appreciated the seriousness, meticulousness, and investment of the participating teams. Each performance had its own unique style, reflecting love and passion for the Vietnamese language and culture. After watching the performances, all members of the judging panel unanimously awarded Jon Ji Song the Most Impressive Contestant award for his outstanding performance of the speech: "Vietnam in my heart is President Ho Chi Minh."
Before the organizing committee officially presented the award to Jon Ji Song, Professor Hoang Anh Tuan, Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, decided to give him a special gift! That gift was a scholarship covering 100% of tuition fees for both his master's and doctoral studies.

Associate Professor Pham Quang Hung (Director of the Department of International Cooperation, Ministry of Education and Training) emphasized: “That was a swift, unexpected, and very humane decision! Throughout the preparation for the competition and today's event, VNU-USSH has always been a partner, providing support and creating the best conditions for the competition to take place safely and successfully! And at this very moment, a very meaningful gift has been given to the most impressive contestant of the competition. On behalf of the Organizing Committee and the Ministry of Education and Training, we would like to express our sincere gratitude and acknowledge the valuable contribution of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi. This gift not only helps international student Jon Ji Song continue to pursue his dream of studying Vietnamese and researching Vietnam, but also contributes to further spreading the humanistic and unifying values of the competition!”

Pham Quang Hung, Director of the Department of International Cooperation, Ministry of Education and Training, highly appreciated the humanitarian significance of the gift from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities to the candidates.
Principal Hoang Anh Tuan shared: "The judging panel, the organizing committee, myself, and all the teachers and students participating in today's competition are undoubtedly impressed and deeply appreciate the love, passion, and seriousness of the international students for the Vietnamese language and culture! For a Vietnamese person, using Vietnamese correctly and fluently can sometimes be quite challenging! Yet, right here on this stage, our foreign friends from different countries, with varying lengths of time studying Vietnamese, all demonstrate a very proficient ability to use the language. They not only pronounce words correctly but also perform Vietnamese folk songs and proverbs with great smoothness and depth, or tell historical stories with great emotion and heartfelt feelings!"
Among nearly 100 international students participating in the competition, Jon Ji Song from North Korea, currently a student at the Foreign Trade University, left a particularly strong impression on me! If you only listened to her speak and sing songs praising President Ho Chi Minh, it would be difficult to tell she was a foreigner! Her Vietnamese was very fluent, her storytelling voice was expressive, and her intonation was captivating during her speech. In it, there was deep respect and admiration for President Ho Chi Minh! She expressed heroism and emotion when she sang the song "Ho Chi Minh, the Most Beautiful Name."
Professor Hoang Anh Tuan extended his congratulations to the contestant who impressed the entire judging panel and audience, and warmly welcomed her to pursue postgraduate studies at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.

Sharing her thoughts after the competition, Jon Ji Song expressed: "I was incredibly surprised by the gift from the Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities; it was truly beyond my imagination. I think it's not because I'm talented, but because the love of the Vietnamese people for Uncle Ho is so great that it moved me deeply when I spoke on this topic and was highly appreciated by the teachers and judges. At that moment, I was so happy and surprised that I couldn't even speak."
Jon Ji Song further shared: “I was born in North Korea, but I spent five years studying and living in Vietnam (from grade 5 to grade 9). After that, I returned to North Korea to attend high school. However, my love for Vietnam motivated me to return to continue my university studies to further improve my Vietnamese language skills and gain a deeper understanding of Vietnamese culture. After graduating from the International Faculty at the Foreign Trade University, I continued to study Chinese (so I am currently a first-year student). I hope that after graduation I will work in a field that can contribute most to the development of friendly relations between Vietnam and North Korea. I am very happy and proud to be the only candidate to receive this gift from the University, and I will definitely seriously consider choosing to pursue a master's or doctoral degree at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities because it is a great opportunity for me to continue improving my knowledge in my field and will be useful for my future career.”
The more we talked, the more I admired the North Korean student's dedication to his studies and his love for the Vietnamese language – a bright student who sings well and has the ability to tell stories and give presentations in Vietnamese fluently and engagingly.
Jon Ji Song and his fellow students from the Foreign Trade University participated in a speech expressing their deep admiration and respect for President Ho Chi Minh – the great leader of the Vietnamese people – after learning about his life, ethics, and revolutionary career.
With his warm, deep voice, Jon Ji Song moved the entire audience to tears when he performed the song "Ho Chi Minh, the Most Beautiful Name."
The University of Social Sciences and Humanities warmly welcomes you and is ready to accompany you in your next stage of study as well as in your journey to spread the Vietnamese language and Vietnamese cultural identity to the world.
