Attending the direct exchange session with the University of Social Sciences and Humanities were Mr. Chu Da Minh (Head of Education Department, Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Vietnam) and representatives of 11 universities from Taiwan (China): Yuda University of Science and Technology; Jingyi University; Nanhua University; Tamkang University; National Taichung University of Education; ASIA University; Hongguo Delin University of Science and Technology; Nankai University of Science and Technology; National Donghua University; Jianguo University of Technology; Deming University of Finance and Engineering.
In his opening speech, Vice President Dao Thanh Truong sent a warm welcome to representatives of the universities who visited the USSH and attended the Taiwan Higher Education Exhibition. This is a favorable opportunity to expand, strengthen and further tighten the cooperative relationship between VNU-USSH and Taiwanese universities.

Vice President Dao Thanh Truong shared: The University of Social Sciences and Humanities is a key university of the Vietnam National University, Hanoi, one of the leading universities in Vietnam in training in the fields of Social Sciences and Humanities, the cradle of many famous scientists, culturalists, and politicians of Vietnam. Currently, in addition to the faculties with a long history and tradition, training in basic sciences that make up the brand of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities: Languages, History, Literature, Philosophy, ... we have developed many faculties training in applied fields, associated with the needs of society such as Tourism and Travel Services Management, Oriental Studies, Southeast Asia, Sociology, Social Work, Vietnam Studies, etc.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Hong Long (Head of Tourism Department) shared: Currently, VNU-USSH Tourism Department is the leading unit in tourism training in Vietnam with all 3 levels: bachelor, master and doctorate. The field of tourism is currently of great interest and promotion to Taiwanese schools. Therefore, we wish to cooperate in exchanging students and lecturers between the Tourism Department and Taiwanese universities; co-organize major conferences on tourism, organize short-term programs (summer school) ...
On behalf of the Faculty of Oriental Studies, Dr. Nguyen Thi Thu Huong (Deputy Dean) expressed her gratitude to the Taiwanese universities for creating conditions for many of the Faculty’s teachers to receive advanced training in Taiwan. Currently, the Faculty has exchanged university credits with Korean and Japanese universities, etc., so we hope to have the opportunity to cooperate with some Taiwanese universities, and at the same time, we would like to invite Taiwanese lecturers and experts to teach the Faculty’s students and trainees.

Dr. Le Thi Thanh Tam (Head of the Department of Vietnamese Studies and Language) shared about the strengths and outstanding achievements in training Vietnamese language for foreigners and teaching Vietnamese to overseas Vietnamese in countries around the world of the Department. The Head of the Department of Vietnamese Studies and Language also proposed that it is possible to organize a Vietnamese language proficiency certificate exam, possibly even in Taiwan.
Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thi Thai Lan (Deputy Head of the Department of Sociology) said: Many lecturers of the department participate in research topics on Taiwan. However, there are not many in-depth studies on Taiwan at present, so in the future we would like to cooperate to learn from the experiences of Taiwanese experts, researchers, and lecturers in the fields of social work and sociology.
Representing the Faculty of Linguistics, Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Thi Hong Hanh (Deputy Dean) expressed her desire to expand student and lecturer exchange activities with many other schools in Taiwan in addition to the schools with which the Faculty has had very good cooperative relationships in the past.
Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Chu Da Minh expressed his sincere thanks to the School's Board of Directors and functional departments for their professional and effective support and coordination to successfully organize the 2023 university education exhibition. We know that the University of Social Sciences and Humanities is a leading prestigious university in Vietnam, so we decided to choose it as the organizer of this important event. Just this morning, many Vietnamese students and pupils came to visit and learn about Taiwanese schools. We highly appreciate the very scientific and professional organization and communication work of the School.
Mr. Chu Da Minh highly appreciated the thoughtful and professional preparation of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in the Taiwan education exhibition and the warm welcome of the University for the universities.
On the occasion of visiting Vietnam and attending the exhibition, we appreciate the opportunity to meet and interact directly with representatives of the University's faculties to discuss key and effective cooperation programs.
Mr. Chu Da Minh emphasized:
With the school's training majors, universities in Taiwan also train similar or closely related majors, so the opportunity for cooperation is very promising and feasible. In 2023, Taiwan granted scholarships to 5 students to study in Vietnam, of which 4 students studied at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, majoring mainly in Vietnamese language and Southeast Asian culture. That shows the prestige and brand of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in Taiwan is very high..
Representative of Hong Quoc Duc Lam University of Science and Technology shared: The school has cooperated with leading travel agencies in Taiwan to open short-term training courses on hotel management and tourism management skills. After completing the course, students can work or continue to study longer courses.
Nanhua University said that as a university specializing in training in social sciences and humanities, there are many opportunities to cooperate with VNU-USSH. For partner schools, Nanhua University has 5 tuition-free scholarships for 5 students to study 1 semester at Nanhua every year.
On behalf of Dong Hua University, we hope to receive many students and lecturers from VNU-USSH to study at the postgraduate level in a number of fields: public administration, tourism studies, literature, calligraphy, sociology. Every year, Dong Hua University also offers many scholarships for international students. In addition, we hope that the two sides will coordinate to organize seminars online or in person in Vietnam or Taiwan.
On behalf of the participating schools, Mr. Chu Da Minh once again emphasized: on the basis of the MOU signed between Taiwanese universities and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, we hope that the training units will propose specific activities to realize the signed contents. “Personally, I strongly support the connection to expand and promote cooperation between the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and Taiwanese universities. The Taiwan Higher Education Exhibition at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in 2023 was very successful, I believe that it will open up more cooperation” – Mr. Chu Da Minh emphasized.
Every year, the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Vietnam also offers many scholarships for short-term Chinese language study or many other majors for Vietnamese students. Students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities with excellent academic results often easily win these scholarships.
Concluding the meeting, Associate Professor, Dr. Dao Thanh Truong once again expressed his deep gratitude to Mr. Chu Da Minh and representatives of Taiwanese universities for visiting and having a very intimate exchange today, and at the same time proposed many interesting cooperation ideas: Promoting joint training programs 1+3, 2+2; exchanging lecturers and students; coordinating scientific research and international publication.
