[VOV2] To start and build a business, professional knowledge alone is not enough; a solid understanding of law, human resource management, financial management, and awareness of social institutions are also necessary. These issues need to be taught systematically through a curriculum.
On the afternoon of November 13th, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU-USSH) held a signing ceremony for a framework agreement on cooperation and funding with the Dao Minh Quang Foundation to implement the project "Sustainable Career Development and Entrepreneurship in Vietnam" and to continue awarding scholarships and prizes from the Dao Minh Quang Foundation to VNU-USSH students.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Professor Hoang Anh Tuan, Rector of VNU-USSH, expressed his gratitude for the warm sentiments, deep and strong relationship between the Dao Minh Quang Foundation in general and Dr. Dao Minh Quang personally, for his contributions to the development of the university, especially the cooperative activities over the past 7 years (2016-2023).
Professor Hoang Anh Tuan, Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, delivered a speech at the signing ceremony.
Over the past 7 years, many generations of VNU-USSH students have benefited from the Dao Minh Quang Foundation through scholarships and support for the development of the university's infrastructure, even during difficult times due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Each year, the Foundation awards scholarships to 22 students with excellent academic results, 10 students who are class/student union/association leaders with excellent/good academic results, and 5 students from disadvantaged backgrounds with excellent/good academic results, each scholarship worth 5 million VND.
Originating from the idea of supporting Vietnamese youth, the Foundation has implemented the "Sustainable Career and Entrepreneurship in Vietnam" Project and selected VNU-USSH as the place to develop a standardized set of learning materials in the field of career and entrepreneurship training.
Dr. Dao Minh Quang emphasized:"Providing systematic training for Vietnamese youth to equip them with the knowledge to establish careers and start businesses in a creative and sustainable way is crucial and necessary. As a leading university in Vietnam in research and training in social sciences and humanities, I am confident that VNU-USSH will be the unit to successfully implement the aspiration of developing a set of learning materials including textbooks, monographs, and conducting training programs on career development and entrepreneurship."
Dr. Dao Minh Quang shared the reasons why the Fund supports the development of learning materials on entrepreneurship.
The project to fund the development of learning materials on entrepreneurship and starting a business includes various components such as: developing training programs on entrepreneurship and starting a business with standardized learning materials; building a thematic library on entrepreneurship and starting a business to serve students and interested individuals; creating a series of talk shows with expert sharing; and developing a talent incubator program. The fund will also organize internships and practical training activities for students at organizations and businesses to provide comprehensive learning in this field.
Lawyer Nguyen Tien Lap, a member of the Dao Minh Quang Fund Management Board, stated:"Through years of providing legal support to economic corporations, companies, and businesses, I have observed that many businesses fail or go bankrupt due to managers lacking knowledge of law, finance, human resource management, and understanding of social institutions. Equipping entrepreneurs with fundamental knowledge not only helps them mitigate risks during operation but also helps them recover from setbacks and continue on another entrepreneurial path. That is the foundation of sustainable entrepreneurial activity."

Dr. Trinh Ngoc Thach - former Vice Chairman of the National Assembly's Committee on Culture, Education, Youth, and Children, Head of the Public Policy Department at the Faculty of Management Science, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, and representative of the project team implementing "Sustainable Entrepreneurship and Startups in Vietnam" - stated that: The success rate of current startup activities is too low. Many young people, despite their desire and enthusiasm for entrepreneurship, face numerous obstacles due to a lack of basic knowledge about entrepreneurship. Therefore, if this project is implemented, it will help them avoid many risks, and thus startup activities will not be merely a trend or wasteful, but will become systematic and effective.
Dr. Trinh Ngoc Thach - representative of the project team implementing "Sustainable Career Establishment and Entrepreneurship in Vietnam"
Professor Hoang Anh Tuan stated that the collaboration between the Dao Minh Quang Foundation and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities to support student entrepreneurship is extremely meaningful, especially since our entire higher education system lacks comprehensive entrepreneurship curricula. Therefore, a well-structured and standardized learning material, developed according to the standards of advanced countries, will provide students with the foundational knowledge to mitigate risks during the entrepreneurial process. This curriculum will not only serve students at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, but will also be shared and disseminated throughout the entire education system, providing fundamental knowledge and skills for those wishing to sustainably start their own businesses.
