In 2018, the Institute of Journalism and Communication Training was a pioneering unit within the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in organizing two postgraduate courses in Ca Mau and Vinh Long, with a total of 100 students, mostly reporters, editors, and media staff from media agencies in the Mekong Delta region, many of whom held leadership and management positions.

The subcommittee, chaired by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Thanh Huyen, discussed and provided feedback on the students' outlines.

From July 6-14, 2019, the Institute of Journalism and Communication Training organized the evaluation of thesis proposals for 100 students in Vinh Long and Ca Mau. Closely following the practical realities of journalism and media in the Southwestern region of Vietnam, the thesis topics of the two applied-oriented Master's classes focus on solving pressing local issues such as:Communicating poverty reduction policies on district-level radio stations (in Ca Mau province), “Printed newspapers in the Mekong Delta address the issue of multidimensional poverty reduction for the Khmer people.”, “Promoting, preserving, and developing the art of Don Ca Tai Tu (Southern Vietnamese folk music) on television.”, “Organizing the production of Khmer-language programs on Soc Trang Provincial Radio and Television Station.”, “Ca Mau press on the issue of protecting and developing U Minh Ha forest.",..."

Through this, lecturers gain a deep understanding of the local socio-economic and cultural situation, enriching their lectures and increasing the Institute of Journalism and Communication's contribution to research, training, media consulting, image building, and brand promotion; further affirming the important role of journalism and media in sustainable local development.
