The University of Social Sciences and Humanities concluded 2021 having successfully completed most of its academic year's tasks with many highlights: effective COVID-19 prevention measures, completion of training and enrollment plans on schedule and according to targets, and continued and improved scientific activities… Although many challenges remain, expectations for innovation and breakthroughs for the University in the coming academic year remain undiminished.

Rector Hoang Anh Tuan emphasized that in 2022, alongside many other key tasks, disease prevention must continue to be a priority, ensuring compliance with the city's and Vietnam National University's policies while also adapting to the specific circumstances of the university. With 500 staff members and over 8,000 students and trainees across all programs, disease prevention requires a specific plan, but also adaptability and flexibility. This particularly necessitates close coordination between functional departments, training units, and relevant external agencies. The university is determined to mobilize all material and spiritual resources to ensure the goal of safe disease prevention. This is a prerequisite for successfully completing the academic year's tasks.

To welcome students back to school this February, preparations need to be thorough and well-planned, and information must be transparent and readily available to students. Teachers need to promptly answer students' questions to reassure them about returning to school. Online classes must continue as scheduled; the technological infrastructure supporting online learning must remain stable.
In February, the University will also hold a thematic meeting to discuss the organization of the annual international scientific conference for doctoral and master's students. This annual scientific conference is expected to deliver high-quality scientific results, serving as a forum for doctoral students from within and outside the university to present their latest research findings and aiming towards the publication of an international scientific proceedings volume.

Rector Hoang Anh Tuan also mentioned the major directions the University will pursue in the coming time to promote the creativity and capabilities of the staff; to build a high-quality staff that meets the development requirements of the University in the new phase. “All policies will focus on direct and high-level investment in people, in the staff. The resources invested in people will be very large but will also be very strict in terms of regulations.” This includes the issuance of several official documents related to supporting international publications, scientific research, regulations on staff and employees… The quantity and quality of the staff will be oriented towards balanced distribution and development across all training disciplines/specializations, avoiding imbalances between basic science and applied disciplines.

In the context of gradually achieving university autonomy and financial independence, the university's units must be truly dynamic and work together to upgrade, innovate, and expand attractive training programs; innovate teaching methods and approaches to meet societal needs; and promote quality accreditation as a foundation for establishing economic and technical standards for training programs according to Decree 81/2021/ND-CP… Finally, to achieve such breakthroughs, a transparent management and governance mechanism with standardized administrative processes in all areas is essential. The university's modern governance spirit must be promoted this year.
Concluding the meeting, Professor Hoang Anh Tuan expressed his hope that these innovations would be successfully implemented based on the spirit of unity and solidarity of the entire team; organizational stability; and the dissemination of humanistic values through all activities of the University.
