September meeting, Quarter III and deployment of tasks for the 2021-2022 school year

On September 6, 2021, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities - Vietnam National University, Hanoi held an online conference. Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan (Rector of the University) chaired the meeting, and the Rector was attended by the Party Secretary, Vice Rectors, Secretaries of Party cells, Heads of units under the University and leaders of mass organizations.

The conference listened to the report on the implementation of work in August 2021 and the work plan for September 2021 of the units.

MSc. Nguyen Van Thuy (Head of Administration and General Department) presented the implementation of work in August 2021 and the work plan for September 2021.

Accordingly, in August, the School implemented many activities in 4 key areas:

  • Party, organization and union work: approve the Party Committee's personnel plan; Party Committee Inspection Committee, term XXVIII, 2020-2025; continue to perfect leadership and management personnel of some units under the Department Block and some faculty-level units; support the Association of Former Teachers to get vaccinated against Covid-19, organize the Graduation Ceremony for K62 online;

  • Training, student affairs, quality assurance, inspection and legal affairs: implementing summer training for the 2020-2021 school year; developing a training schedule for the 2021-2022 school year; providing timely support for foreign and out-of-province students in Hanoi facing difficulties due to the Covid-19 pandemic;

  • Scientific research, cooperation and development: appraisal and issuance of decisions on international publication rewards; review of progress of state-level topics; review of activities of research centers;

  • Administrative work, facilities, finance, IT: organize the Conference of Officials, Employees and TKNH 2020-2021; contact and organize vaccination for officials and employees of the School; complete the project to upgrade IT infrastructure to submit to the Board of Directors for approval, train lecturers on applying IT in teaching.

In September 2021, the School will continue to implement and deploy new tasks in the above fields.

Dr. Dao Minh Quan (Deputy Head of Training Department) reported on the situation of online training and teaching last school year and the plan for the first semester of the 2021 - 2022 school year2

Next, Dr. Dao Minh Quan (Deputy Head of Training Department) presented a paper on "Online training" in the first semester of the 2021-2022 school year at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities: Current situation and some proposals". The paper highlighted some of the main results in the training work in the second semester of the 2020-2021 school year, pointed out the advantages and difficulties, conveyed the instructions of VNU on online training in the first semester of the 2021-2022 school year, and presented the University's online training plan in the first semester of the 2021-2022 school year.

The conference took place online via Zoom software.

After listening to the reports and discussions, the Conference listened to the opinions of the Party Secretaries, Vice Principals, and representatives of the Faculties, Departments, and Units under and directly under the School. All opinions agreed with the draft report prepared by the Administration and General Department and proposed specific opinions to further improve the effectiveness of work in September and in the new school year.

Concluding the Conference, Principal Hoang Anh Tuan highly appreciated the efforts of the units in performing the tasks of August, and at the same time hoped that the units would continue to strive to complete the targets and tasks in September and the third quarter of 2021. In particular, the Principal emphasized the work of preventing the Covid-19 epidemic and the work of enrollment and training.

In addition to the tasks in September, Principal Hoang Anh Tuan also gave some instructions on 5 key groups of tasks in the 2021-2022 school year: creating breakthroughs in developing the scientific staff, restructuring scientific research topics, innovating training, modernizing facilities of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, and optimizing financial work.

I. Key tasks in September 2021

1. Epidemic prevention work:

  • Continue to strengthen the prevention of Covid-19 epidemic for staff and students of the School; pay special attention to Directive 20 of Hanoi City;
  • Continue to search for vaccine sources to vaccinate on schedule;
  • Promote advocacy work to support students in difficulty during the social distancing period, promptly pay attention to the living and studying lives of students, especially those in the F0, F1 category and living in isolated and locked-down areas.

2. Recruitment and Training

  • Successfully complete the remaining admission rounds (University based on high school admission; University round 2);
  • Implement training activities for semester 1 as planned

3. Other works

  • Complete and issue the 2021-2022 school year plan; Continue to improve the management staff at some remaining units; Continue to complete the school evaluation report...

II. Some key tasks for the 2021-2022 school year

1. Create a breakthrough in developing the scientific staff

  • Promote the international publication support program, directly invest in staff to increase international articles, increase scientific research topics... using the school's budget; form a focal point to support international publishing work for staff, in the direction of restructuring to avoid creating new units and administrative personnel.
  • Support the promotion of high-quality domestic scientific publications and improve foreign language proficiency of staff.

2. Restructuring scientific research topics

  • Orientation and support for staff to enhance the exploitation of topic groups funded by NAFOSTED and VNU.
  • Continue to promote the exploitation of scientific programs at the State and Ministry levels, programs with localities...
  • Innovate the organization and management of scientific research at the unit: issue related management document systems (support for international publication; translate textbooks and special tool books; increase funding for grassroots topics...).

3. Innovation in Training

  • Increase investment in elite training, especially in traditional and unique basic sciences.
  • Expand the socialization system for applied fields with high demand from learners.
  • Develop AB and AB + C training models to revitalize some traditional majors.
  • Restructuring of postgraduate training majors.

4. Upgrading school facilities

  • Optimizing space and modernizing facilities at Thuong Dinh campus:
  • Implementing the project to build the school's facilities in Hoa Lac with VNU:
  • Building a modern digital governance platform:

5. Optimize Financial work

  • The school will increase investment from short-term and medium-term capital sources of VNU (renovating the entire G building and the 4 exteriors of E building; synchronous investment in IT infrastructure including equipment, transmission lines, wifi, etc.). At the same time, seek social resources to develop infrastructure through socialization methods, public-private partnerships, etc.
  • The school will increase investment from internal budget in a direct direction, with product commitment and efficiency assessment.

6. Some other important tasks

  • Development Cooperation work needs to focus on developing and exploiting key and potential partners to take advantage of resources to develop science and training of the University; Training Quality Assurance work will be innovated to improve the quality of assessment of training programs, improve the ranking of the field of Social Sciences and Humanities in VNU; student work (including activities of the Union - Association) will be improved in a professional, modern, serving direction, focusing on career orientation and start-up for students, developing skill systems associated with modern models such as ASK, KASH...
