Rector Hoang Anh Tuan was appointed as an ex-officio member of the Council of Hanoi National University.

On October 4, 2021, the VNU Council issued Decisions No. 2928/QD-HD, 2929/QD-HD, 2930/QD-HD on the dismissal and appointment of members of the VNU Council as follows:

- Decision No. 2928/QD-HDdated October 4, 2021 on the dismissal of Mr. Pham Quang Minh, former Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, from the VNU Council for the 2018-2023 term. This decision takes effect from the date of signing.

- Decision No.2929/QD-HDdated October 4, 2021 on the appointment of Mr. Le Quan, Party Secretary and President of VNU, as an ex-officio member of the VNU Council for the 2018-2023 term. This decision takes effect from the date of signing.

- Decision No.2930/QD-HDdated October 4, 2021 on the appointment of Mr. Hoang Anh Tuan, Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, as an ex-officio member of the VNU Council for the 2018-2023 term. This decision takes effect from the date of signing.
