Professor and Rector visits several Nordic universities.

To strengthen and expand cooperation in training and scientific research with universities in Northern Europe, as well as to conduct research and surveys on social security and social welfare in the Nordic region within the framework of a state-level research project, at the invitation of the University of Copenhagen (Denmark) and Lund University (Sweden), Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh - Rector of the university - visited and exchanged cooperation with these universities from August 20th to 26th, 2013. Accompanying him were Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Thi Kim Hoa (Head of the Sociology Department), Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Thi Thu Ha (Vice Head of the Sociology Department), and Associate Professor Dr. Trinh Van Tung (Vice Head of the Sociology Department).

On the morning of August 20th, Professor Nguyen Van Khanh and members of his delegation visited and worked with the School of Social Sciences and the School of Humanities at the University of Copenhagen (Denmark). During this meeting, Professor Nguyen Van Khanh proposed collaborative activities in research and training, such as student and faculty exchange programs, joint organization of international scientific conferences, and the development of joint training programs, particularly in the fields of Southeast Asian Studies, Anthropology, and Sociology. The leaders and staff of the School of Social Sciences and the School of Humanities - University of Copenhagen were very pleased and agreed with Professor Nguyen Van Khanh's proposals. Both sides exchanged ideas on cooperation and agreed to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on student and faculty exchange between the School of Social Sciences and the School of Humanities - University of Copenhagen and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities - Vietnam National University, Hanoi. In the afternoon of the same day, Professor... Nguyen Van Khanh and the Dean's Office of the Faculty of Sociology attended a presentation and discussion with Associate Professor Peter Abrahamsen from the Faculty of Sociology, University of Copenhagen, on the Welfare Policies and Systems of Denmark and the Nordic countries.

On August 21st, Professor Nguyen Van Khanh and his delegation visited and worked with the Faculty of Sociology and the School of Social Work at Lund University (Sweden). The delegation received information about the training programs from Bachelor's to Doctoral levels in Social Sciences, specializing in Sociology and Social Policy, and the research directions in social policy and welfare offered by the Faculty of Sociology and the School of Social Work at Lund University. Both sides also discussed cooperation between the University of Social Sciences and Humanities – VNU Hanoi and the Faculty of Sociology, Lund University, within the framework of the Swedish Joint Research Project. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Kim Hoa (Head of the Faculty of Sociology – University of Social Sciences and Humanities – VNU Hanoi), on behalf of the delegation, shared the results and research activities that the Faculty of Sociology has conducted within the framework of the Project.

As part of the trip, on August 22nd, the delegation led by Professor Nguyen Van Khanh, the Rector of the University, visited and worked with the Vietnamese Embassy in Denmark. Ambassador Lai Ngoc Doan warmly and respectfully welcomed the delegation. Professor Nguyen Van Khanh and the members of the delegation discussed cooperation activities with the University of Copenhagen – Denmark, as well as other universities in the Nordic region, and learned more about diplomatic policies, especially in the field of higher education, between Vietnam and Denmark. The Ambassador highly appreciated the position of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities – VNU Hanoi and expressed his enthusiastic support for the University's cooperation activities with partners in Denmark in the future.

Professor Nguyen Van Khanh and the Dean's Office of the Sociology Department visited prestigious universities in Northern Europe, including the University of Copenhagen (Denmark) and Lund University (Sweden), and concluded successfully. This visit contributed to further developing educational and research cooperation with leading universities in Northern Europe, as well as providing valuable information and materials for a state-level research project on social security and social welfare.
