In order to strengthen and expand cooperation in training and scientific research with universities in Northern Europe as well as research and survey on social security and social welfare in the Northern Europe region within the framework of state-level research projects, at the invitation of Copenhagen University (Denmark) and Lund University (Sweden), Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh - Rector of the school visited and discussed cooperation with these universities from August 20 to August 26, 2013. Accompanying him were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Kim Hoa (Head of the Department of Sociology), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Thu Ha (Deputy Head of the Department of Sociology) and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Trinh Van Tung (Deputy Head of the Department of Sociology).
On the morning of August 20, Prof. Nguyen Van Khanh and members of the delegation visited and worked with the School of Social Sciences and the School of Humanities at the University of Copenhagen (Denmark). During this meeting, Prof. Nguyen Van Khanh proposed cooperation activities in research and training such as student and lecturer exchanges, joint organization of international scientific conferences, and development of joint training programs, especially in the fields of Southeast Asian Studies, Anthropology and Sociology. The leaders and staff of the School of Social Sciences and the School of Humanities - University of Copenhagen were very pleased and approved the proposals of Prof. Nguyen Van Khanh. The two sides exchanged ideas on cooperation and agreed to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on student and lecturer exchange between the School of Social Sciences and the School of Humanities - University of Copenhagen and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities - VNU. In the afternoon of the same day, Prof. Nguyen Van Khanh and the Board of Directors of the Faculty of Sociology attended the presentation and discussion with Associate Professor Peter Abrahamsen from the Faculty of Sociology - University of Copenhagen on Welfare Policy and Systems of Denmark and the Nordic countries.
On August 21, Prof. Nguyen Van Khanh and his delegation visited and worked with the Faculty of Sociology and the School of Social Work at Lund University (Sweden). The delegation heard about the training programs from Bachelor to Doctorate in Social Sciences, majors in Sociology and Social Policy and research directions in social policy and welfare of the Faculty of Sociology and the School of Social Work at Lund University. The two sides also discussed cooperation between the University of Social Sciences and Humanities – VNU and the Faculty of Sociology, Lund University within the framework of the Swedish Joint Research Project. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Kim Hoa (Head of the Faculty of Sociology – University of Social Sciences and Humanities – VNU) on behalf of the delegation shared the results and research activities that the Faculty of Sociology has conducted within the framework of the Project.
During the trip, on August 22, the delegation led by Prof. Nguyen Van Khanh - Rector of the school visited and worked with the Vietnamese Embassy in Denmark. Ambassador Lai Ngoc Doan warmly welcomed the delegation. Prof. Nguyen Van Khanh and members of the delegation discussed with Ambassador Lai Ngoc Doan about cooperation activities with the University of Copenhagen - Denmark as well as other universities in the Nordic region as well as learning more about diplomatic policies, especially in the field of higher education between Vietnam and Denmark. The Ambassador highly appreciated the position of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities - VNU and expressed his enthusiastic support for the cooperation activities of the University with partners in Denmark in the coming time.
The working trip to Northern Europe to visit prestigious universities not only in the region but also in the world, such as Copenhagen University (Denmark) and Lund University (Sweden), by Prof. Nguyen Van Khanh and the Board of Directors of the Faculty of Sociology ended successfully, contributing to further developing educational and research cooperation with leading universities in Northern Europe, as well as learning, researching and collecting useful information and documents to serve the state-level research topic on social security and social welfare.
