Meeting with the Director of the Goethe Institute Vietnam

On September 11, 2013, Associate Professor Pham Quang Minh (Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) met and worked with Dr. Almuth Meyer-Zollitsch (Director of the Goethe Institute Vietnam). Also present at the meeting were leaders from the Faculty of Journalism and Communication, the Research Management Department, and the International Relations Department.

Representatives from the Goethe Institute announced that a German-Vietnamese media dialogue forum will be held in October 2013 with the theme "How the Internet is changing the media environment? Opportunities and challenges for online journalism." Within the framework of the forum, the organizers want to hold an exchange of conference results between participating journalists and journalism students from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. The conference and exchange will cover specific issues related to the practical development of journalism and media in Vietnam and Germany: trends in the use of print newspapers, radio, television, and the Internet; the use of media among different groups; changes in the media environment and the challenges facing newspapers, editorial boards, and marketing professionals; new strategies of media providers; and changes in the image of journalism. Public opinion in the age of online society… Representatives from the Goethe Institute expressed their desire for the school to collaborate and participate in this event.
During the meeting, representatives from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities expressed their support and affirmed that they would create all favorable conditions for this joint cooperation to be successful.


The Goethe Institute is a cultural organization of the Federal Republic of Germany, operating worldwide to support the dissemination of the German language abroad and promote international cultural exchange. The Goethe Institute Vietnam, established in 1997, aims to support cultural exchange between Vietnam, Germany, and Europe.
