Professor and Rector visits and works with the World Historical Society.

At the invitation of Hawaii Pacific University (Hawaii, USA) and the World Historical Society, Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh - Rector of the university - led a delegation including Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan, Vice Dean of the Faculty of History, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dinh Le, Head of the Department of Vietnamese History, and Dr. Tran Thuy Anh, Deputy Head of the International Cooperation and Training Department, to visit and work in Hawaii (USA) from October 28 to November 2, 2012.

At the invitation of Hawaii Pacific University (Hawaii, USA) and the World Historical Society, Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh - Rector of the university - led a delegation including Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan, Vice Dean of the Faculty of History, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dinh Le, Head of the Department of Vietnamese History, and Dr. Tran Thuy Anh, Deputy Head of the International Cooperation and Training Department, to visit and work in Hawaii (USA) from October 28 to November 2, 2012.On October 30, 2012, Professor Nguyen Van Khanh met with Professor Marc Gilbert, President of the World Historical Society, and Mr. Winston Welch, Executive Director, to discuss future cooperation between the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and the World Historical Society. At this meeting, both sides agreed to organize a conference entitled "Vietnam in World History," to be held in January 2014 in Hanoi. The conference will be a good opportunity to showcase research and teaching results in Vietnamese history, and to provide foreign researchers with a better understanding of Vietnamese history. Professor Marc Gilbert also agreed that both sides would strengthen cooperation in scientific research and the publication of research works on Vietnamese and world history. On October 31, 2012, Professor Nguyen Van Khanh visited and signed a cooperation agreement with Hawaii Pacific University. Both sides agreed on the following areas of cooperation: student and faculty exchange; publication exchange; co-supervision of master's and doctoral students; joint organization of seminars and scientific research; and, in particular, Hawaii Pacific University will receive faculty members from the History Department under the Strategic Mission program for research and professional development for a period of 3 to 6 months.

In addition, the University of Hawaii Pacific will send lecturers and TESOL master's degree holders to teach English to lecturers and staff of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. The University of Hawaii Pacific was established in 1965 with 445 faculty members and 10,000 students currently enrolled. During this visit, Professor Nguyen Van Khanh also met with Professors Liam Kelly (Department of History) and Barbara Andaya (Department of Southeast Asian Studies) from the University of Hawaii, Manoa to discuss strengthening and expanding research cooperation on Vietnam and Southeast Asia between the two universities. Professor Nguyen Van Khanh also requested that professors from the University of Hawaii, Manoa continue to participate in teaching and co-supervising master's and doctoral students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. The visit to universities in Hawaii, USA, and the World Historical Society by the school's delegation, led by Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh, concluded successfully and opened up new avenues for cooperation in Vietnamese studies at universities in the United States, especially in the Hawaii region.
