The visit was made at the invitation of the Mexico-Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Group and several local universities.
During their visit, the delegation held working sessions with the Institute of Social Sciences of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) in Mexico City and the Emilio Zapata University of the Mexican Workers' Party in Monterrey, the capital of the northern state of Nuevo Leon, to explore possibilities for bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
During the meetings, leaders of Mexican universities expressed their delight at the enormous potential for cooperation between the two countries and their interest in the opportunities opened up by this visit of the delegation from the Hanoi University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam, in the fields of teaching and training, faculty and student exchange, book and textbook publishing, and the organization of bilateral and international scientific conferences, as well as the formation of joint research topics.
Both sides committed to promptly signing a cooperation agreement within the framework of the Cooperation Agreement on Culture, Education and Sports previously signed by the Government of Vietnam and the Government of Mexico.
In a cordial meeting with the delegation from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities of Vietnam, Federal Member of Parliament Alberto Anaya Gutierrez, General Secretary of the Mexican Labor Party (PT) and Chairman of the Mexico-Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Group, expressed his pleasure at the new areas of cooperation opened up in the relationship between Mexico and Vietnam, as well as the concrete results achieved during the delegation's visit.
Federal MP Gutierrez suggested that both sides should soon develop a cooperation plan for 2015 and subsequent years to contribute to strengthening and expanding the friendly relations and multifaceted cooperation between the two countries.
On behalf of the Labour Party and the Parliamentary Friendship Group, Alberto Anaya Gutierrez also pledged to fund cooperative activities in these areas.
In addition to official activities, Professor, Doctor, People's Teacher Nguyen Van Khanh and the delegation laid wreaths at the Ho Chi Minh monument, visited several historical, cultural and educational sites in Mexico City, and visited the Vietnamese Embassy in Mexico.
