On June 3rd, 2015, Me Tri Dormitory held a ceremony to summarize the work of resident students in the 2014-2015 academic year. This is an important annual event aimed at summarizing and evaluating the achievements of the past year, while also identifying shortcomings in order to implement corrective measures for future academic years.
Attending the ceremony were Dr. Nguyen Quang Lieu, Head of Student Affairs Department, University of Social Sciences and Humanities; Dr. Tran Manh Cuong, Deputy Head of Political and Student Affairs Department, University of Science; Mr. Hoang Trong Nghia, Director of the Student Support Center, Vietnam National University, Hanoi; Mr. Nguyen Van Thang, Deputy Director of the Center, Head of the Foreign Language Dormitory Management Board; Mr. Nguyen Huu Hieu, Deputy Director of the Center, Head of the My Dinh Dormitory Management Board; Mr. Nguyen Viet Hung, Deputy Head of the Administrative and Student Affairs Department; Mr. Pham Dinh Viet, Head of the Me Tri Dormitory; and all staff and student representatives working and studying at the Me Tri Dormitory.
In its summary report for the 2014-2015 academic year, Me Tri Dormitory successfully completed its tasks in various activities, supporting resident students, from management to providing assistance and rewarding exemplary individuals and groups.
Accordingly, the management and services for resident students have some notable points: Me Tri Dormitory has approved nearly 2000 students, including undergraduates, graduate students, and doctoral candidates, of which 76 are students under agreements, and approximately 200 are students and doctoral candidates from other countries, including short-term international students. Notably, in 2015, the year of the ASEAN Student Exchange Program of Hanoi National University, Me Tri Dormitory participated and provided accommodation for approximately 40 students who came to live, study, and interact on the premises.
The dormitory always pays close attention to the management of international students, graduate students, and doctoral candidates. This is especially true for students under international agreements, whose numbers are increasing year by year (46 students in the 2013-2014 academic year; 76 students in the 2014-2015 academic year).
Regarding facilities and services, for the student dormitory area, a review of the facilities in student dormitories will be conducted, and proposals will be made to focus funding on renovating and repairing essential and key items. The internal road system around the main gate will be planned, widened, and lane markings will be painted. With the re-identification of security checkpoint locations and the addition of cameras in the grounds and entrances/exits, security and order will be better controlled.
The 2014-2015 academic year was marked by numerous activities supporting students in the dormitory, with diverse and engaging content and formats. Particularly noteworthy were the career seminars and job placement programs, providing students with opportunities to access career prospects and learn how to approach employers. In addition, there were sports exchanges, documentary film screenings, and the second annual student singing competition, all implemented in various forms to foster national pride and love for the homeland.
