The University of Social Sciences and Humanities collaborates with Guangxi Nationalities University (China) in doctoral training programs.

On the morning of May 26th, Associate Professor Pham Quang Minh (Vice Rector) and representatives from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities welcomed a delegation from Guangxi Nationalities University (China). The two sides had a detailed and productive exchange regarding the doctoral training plan proposed by Guangxi Nationalities University.

The University of Social Sciences and Humanities collaborates with Guangxi Nationalities University (China) in doctoral training programs.

Over the past few years, the two universities have collaborated in many areas of education, particularly in training master's students. The purpose of this visit is to strengthen cooperation and expand the doctoral training model between the two universities.

The Guangxi University for Nationalities delegation included: Professor Yuan Dingsheng – Vice President of Guangxi University for Nationalities, China; Mr. Liu Zhiqiang – Director of the Southeast Asian Foreign Language and Culture Institute; and Mr. Cen Xuedao – Deputy Head of the International Cooperation Department of Guangxi University for Nationalities. Representing the University of Social Sciences and Humanities were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh – Vice President of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Chinh – Head of the Linguistics Department; Mr. Dao Van Hung – Deputy Head of the Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language Department; and representatives from the Postgraduate Training Department.

Professor Yuan Dingsheng – Vice President of Guangxi Nationalities University, China – proposed a plan for collaborative doctoral training with Associate Professor Pham Quang Minh – Vice President of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.

At the beginning of the meeting, representatives from Guangxi University for Nationalities introduced the doctoral programs offered, including Ethnology, Chinese Language and Literature, and Foreign Languages ​​and Literature. The professor emphasized the close relationship between China and Southeast Asian countries, both currently and in the future. From this, he proposed a training model based on the cultural foundation and strong ties between the two countries.

Associate Professor Pham Quang Minh expressed his gratitude to the delegation from Guangxi University for Nationalities. He also stated that this is a very good opportunity for graduate students from both countries to exchange knowledge and improve their skills. Simultaneously, it strengthens opportunities for cooperation between professors from the two universities: “The three fields mentioned by the professors are all taught at our university, so they are very similar and compatible. If we make good use of this opportunity, it will certainly bring many benefits to both sides. The issue now is finding common ground to realize this idea. For example, the duration of study for graduate students, the language of instruction for graduate students, and the issue of funding…”

Associate Professor Pham Quang Minh presented gifts to representatives of Guangxi Nationalities University at the end of the meeting.

Following this, the two sides had a lively and detailed exchange on how to implement the plan. Vietnamese experts also asked many questions about the student exchange program, the number of subjects the postgraduate students would study, the duration of study, the degree-awarding institution, etc.

At the end of the meeting, both sides decided that within one month, the two schools would finalize the framework agreement, including the purpose, principles, form, and conditions. Subsequently, each year the two schools would agree on an appendix detailing specific cooperation agreements. It is anticipated that this year's appendix will be discussed in September.
