At the meeting, Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh briefly introduced the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, a leading institution for research and training in Social Sciences and Humanities in Vietnam. Currently, the University has more than 10,000 students and about 500 staff and lecturers. One of the strategic goals of the University is internationalization, through increasing international publications and relations with foreign partners. The University cooperates with many Korean universities such as Seoul University, Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, and Busan University of Foreign Studies. The Department of Korean Studies, Faculty of Oriental Studies of the University is a prestigious institution in the field of Korean Studies, with a very high rate of graduates finding jobs. The President hopes that the University can cooperate with the three universities in various cooperative activities.
Representatives of three Korean universities expressed their joy at discussing the prospects of cooperation with a prestigious training institution in Vietnam such as the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. The most focused and interested activity is the exchange of lecturers and students through the forms of 2+2 and 3+1 joint training. In addition, the schools also expressed their intention to jointly implement scientific research projects and co-organize international conferences on topics related to tourism, hotel management, community development, tourism economics, etc. Jeju National University also wants to cooperate in Korean language training with the Faculty of Oriental Studies.
Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh highly appreciated the ideas of three universities in Jeju province, Korea. For reference, the Rector also introduced some summer courses co-organized by the University of Social Sciences and Humanities with partners such as Humboldt University (Germany), Meiji University (Japan), and Zurich University (Switzerland).
Jeju National University, Jeju Tourism University, and Cheju Halla University are three famous higher education institutions in Jeju Province, South Korea. The three schools were founded in 1952, 1993, and 1969, respectively. Located on the beautiful and poetic Jeju Island, all three schools take advantage of the location to attract foreign students, mainly through tourism and hospitality. For example, among the 12,000 students at Jeju National University, there are 800 international students, including 100 Vietnamese students.
