Men's football team entered the semi-finals of the 2018 VNU Trade Union Football Tournament

The match was dramatic and exciting as expected by the fans. The players of VNU-Hanoi opened the scoring early with a lucky free kick in the middle of the first half, the ball hit a player of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and went into the net. After the goal, the players of VNU-Hanoi applied a defensive counter-attacking tactic, giving the game to the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. After many situations threatening the opponent's goal, it was not until the middle of the second half that player Dao Tuan Anh had a chance to equalize with a score of 1-1. After that, the two teams entered a game of attack and struggle, bringing the match to a 6m penalty shootout. With courage and determination, despite the disadvantage, after 5 rounds of kicks, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities team excellently won 4-3 to advance to the semi-finals of the tournament. The opponent in the semi-final will be the winner of the Lien Quan 1 match and the Center for National Defense and Security Education. The semi-final match of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities will take place at 5:00 p.m. on November 4, 2018 (Sunday).

The 2018 VNU Trade Union Football Tournament has the participation of 17 teams from Schools, Faculties, Centers, Institutes, and affiliated units in VNU. The tournament organizers divide the teams into 4 groups. Groups A, B, and C have 4 teams, while Group D has 5 teams. In the group stage, the teams compete in a round-robin to calculate points, then the top 2 teams in each group will advance to the quarter-finals. The matches of the tournament take place on the football field of the VNU Sports Complex every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

The 2018 VNU Trade Union Football Tournament was held to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Government's Decree on VNU and 112 years of tradition. In addition, the football tournament will contribute to exchanges, mutual understanding and improving the health of cadres and union members working at units under VNU.
