Speaking at the meeting, Professor Nguyen Van Kim, Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice Rector of the University, emphasized: This is a meaningful activity, marking an important milestone in the development of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities as well as Van Tho commune. This meeting was held in preparation for the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the two key faculties of Literature and History of Hanoi University, now the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.

Professor Nguyen Van Kim, on behalf of the Party Committee, the Board of Directors, and the faculty of the University, expressed gratitude and thanks to the government and people of Van Tho commune.
It can be said that, throughout the development of the University of Hanoi, now the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, the role, contributions, assistance, and support of the people of Van Tho commune have been indispensable.
During that period, the teachers and students of the school not only fulfilled the responsibilities entrusted by the Party and the State but also continued to train young intellectuals for the country, compiling many sets of documents and textbooks.

Professor Vu Duong Ninh, People's Teacher, delivered a speech at the meeting.
Unable to hide his emotion upon returning to his ancestral land, Professor Vu Duong Ninh shared: "Looking back more than 50 years ago, we all came here as young people. But today, our hair has turned gray, our steps have slowed, but our hearts remain unchanged, just like the first days we met our fellow villagers."
"We remember that, amidst the nationwide struggle against the US for national salvation, we set off with small backpacks and some books, receiving care and assistance from the local people. For four or five years, we were closely connected with the people, the fields, and the cassava plantations. Thanks to that help, the teachers and students of the History and Literature Faculty at the University of Hanoi were able to complete their mission and continue to develop. From our days of studying in Van Tho, many comrades became members of the Communist Party of Vietnam, and many became members of the Politburo. Van Tho is a blessed land. The kindness and solidarity of our people nurtured an entire generation to fulfill their duty to the country," said Professor Vu Duong Ninh, People's Teacher.
During their return visit to Van Tho commune, Dai Tu district, Thai Nguyen province, the Retired Teachers' Association of the school presented some gifts to the commune and 16 outstanding students in the area.
