At the meeting, Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh briefly introduced the history of training and research of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities as a leading address for training in social sciences and humanities in Vietnam. The University currently has over 13,000 students of all systems, over 700 lecturers and civil servants and has international relations with over 200 universities worldwide. Among the University's partners, the President affirmed that the Toshiba Foundation in particular and Japan in general are always important partners in the international cooperation development strategy. Over the years, the Toshiba Foundation has continuously sponsored the seminar series "New studies on Japan and Asia" to promote research activities and academic exchanges of young staff, while promoting the sharing of new scientific research results on Japan in particular and Asia in general.
Mr. Keisuke Omori expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome of the USSH and pledged to continue to sponsor and support the University in research and training on Japanese studies and Japanese language. The results achieved through the above-mentioned series of seminars are the motivation for the Fund to continue expanding its support activities at the University. These activities will contribute to strengthening the relationship between the Fund and the University in particular, and at the same time, strengthening the Vietnam-Japan relationship in general.

The Toshiba International Foundation (Japan) was established in 1989 to promote international awareness of Japan through cultural exchange activities, including organizing and sponsoring international seminars and conferences. In the 20 years since its establishment, the Foundation has supported many projects around the world to strengthen relations between Japan and other countries. At VNU, in the past 5 years (2010 - 2015), under the sponsorship of the Toshiba International Foundation, young PhDs of VNU who have recently obtained their PhD degrees in Japan in the past 5 years (2010 - 2015) will have the opportunity to receive a postdoctoral scholarship worth 350,000 Japanese Yen.
