Faculty of Sociology is a pioneer in training and researching Sociology and Social Work in Vietnam.

Chairman of VNU Trade Union, Head of Student Affairs and Policy Department Dinh Van Huong presented the Flag of the leading emulation unit of VNU to the Faculty of Sociology.

Established in September 1991, after 25 years of construction and development, the Faculty of Sociology has achieved many remarkable achievements in personnel work, training, scientific research and international cooperation, helping the Faculty maintain its leading position in training institutions for the two majors of Sociology and Social Work as well as contributing to training many generations of excellent sociologists and social workers.

At the ceremony, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thi Kim Hoa - Head of the Faculty of Sociology said that training is not only a core task but also one of the strengths of the Faculty. The Faculty of Sociology is the first institution in Vietnam to train master's degrees in Social Work and one of the first two institutions to train doctoral programs in Social Work. In addition, the Faculty also organizes part-time training; organizes many short-term and long-term professional training courses for organizations and localities across the country. Many students and trainees of the Faculty after graduation have held important leadership positions in Party and State agencies at the central and local levels.

As a prestigious and quality scientific research unit, the faculty and students of the Faculty of Sociology always promote and promote scientific research activities. Many staff and lecturers of the Faculty have chaired or participated in major scientific research projects at the school level, the Ministry level, the VNU level, the State level, projects of domestic and international organizations... The Faculty has also organized more than 40 seminars at the department and faculty level, dozens of international seminars, creating forums to improve capacity and share information for lecturers, researchers and students.

The Faculty Board presented flowers to congratulate the Professors appointed in 2016.

Within the framework of the celebration, Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Kim, delivered a congratulatory speech, recognizing and praising the achievements of the staff, lecturers and students of the Faculty over the past 25 years. He emphasized that the Faculty of Sociology has become a prestigious training unit, training from bachelor, master and doctoral levels for the two majors of Sociology and Social Work. This is a reliable address for learners, making an important contribution to the training and research career of social sciences and humanities of our country in general and of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU in particular.

Also at the ceremony, Chairman of the VNU Trade Union, Head of the Student Affairs and Policy Department Dinh Van Huong presented the Emulation Flag and Certificate of Merit from the VNU President to the Faculty of Sociology in recognition of the achievements and contributions of the Faculty in training and research. The Faculty Board also presented flowers to the Deans of the Faculty through the periods, the new professors and associate professors of the Faculty.
