Receive and work with the delegation of Uppsala University (Sweden)

At the meeting, Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh (Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) introduced the main achievements in training, scientific research and main research directions of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities; emphasizing the goal of building a research university and internationalization. In recent years, the University has promoted internationalization by increasing the content of teaching in English, welcoming many international students from the US (Princeton University), Japan (Meiji University), Germany (Giessen University) to participate in short-term study programs, promoting majors related to international relations, and organizing research projects and international conferences with universities around the world, such as Stockholm University (Sweden). The University wishes to promote cooperation with Swedish universities through activities such as student and lecturer exchanges, co-organizing international scientific conferences and cooperation in international publishing.

In response, Professor Leif Kirsebom thanked the University for its warm welcome and made a number of specific cooperation proposals, namely (i) organizing an international conference on Education for Sustainable Development in the region, to create opportunities for scientists, managers, educators and businesses to discuss one of the important global issues today; and (ii) establishing a center for regional sustainable development at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, with the support of the Swedish International Center for Education for Sustainable Development and UNESCO.

Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh agreed with the above proposals and proposed to sign a memorandum of cooperation between the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and Uppsala University in the future to create an official cooperation framework. The Cooperation and Development Office will be the contact point between the two sides.

Uppsala University was founded in 1477 and is a research university in Sweden. In international rankings, Uppsala is one of the best universities in the Nordic region and is a prestigious higher education institution in Europe. Uppsala University offers undergraduate and graduate programs, including 70 beginner programs and 60 master's programs. In particular, there are up to 40 international master's programs and nearly 800 freestanding courses taught in English. Uppsala has an excellent teaching staff, including some of the best lecturers from around the world, with the aim of educating, inspiring and helping students to excel.
