Accordingly, in the 2016 recognition round, the whole country had 65 teachers recognized as meeting the standards for the title of Professor and 638 teachers as meeting the standards for the title of Associate Professor. Of which, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU had 10 teachers recognized as meeting the standards for the titles of Professor and Associate Professor.

Speaking at the announcement ceremony, Minister of Education and Training Phung Xuan Nha emphasized: The recognition of qualifications and appointment of Professor and Associate Professor titles is a major and important policy of the Party and State to build, train and use a team of leading and key scientific staff in training and research institutions according to national standards, gradually approaching the standards of advanced countries in the region and the world.

This policy also creates a basis for determining the roles, responsibilities and directions of efforts for scientific and educational staff; at the same time, it is the basis for proposing and implementing policies and regimes for the use and treatment of highly qualified and prestigious intellectuals.

From 1980 to 2015, after 24 rounds of review, in 36 years, the total number of professors and associate professors recognized in our country was 11,619, including 1,680 professors and 9,939 associate professors. The team of professors and associate professors in our country has been making active and important contributions to improving the quality of education and training, scientific research and technology transfer, contributing to the cause of national construction and development.

This year, the whole country has 931 candidates registering for the title of Professor and Associate Professor. Of these, 118 people applied for the title of Professor, 813 people applied for the title of Associate Professor at 107 basic Councils of Professor Title, 250 more candidates than in 2015.
