Vietnam National University, Hanoi and University of Cork sign comprehensive cooperation agreement.

During the State visit to Vietnam by the President of Ireland, on the morning of November 7, 2016, in the presence of President Michael Daniel Higgins and President Tran Dai Quang, the Director of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, Nguyen Kim Son, and the Director of University College Cork (UCC), Michael B. Murphy, signed a comprehensive cooperation agreement.

In the presence of Irish President Michael Daniel Higgins and Vietnamese President Tran Dai Quang, the Director of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, Nguyen Kim Son, and the Director of University College Cork, Michael B. Murphy, signed a cooperation agreement.

The agreement aims to further strengthen the cooperative relationship built upon the achievements of the past years. This is a vivid testament to the effective cooperation between Vietnam National University, Hanoi and a leading Irish university, contributing to elevating the good relationship between Vietnam and Ireland.

The agreement between Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) and University College Cork will focus on the following areas: high-level training and research in basic and applied sciences where both sides have strengths and shared interests, through the implementation of joint training and research projects; and further strengthening the exchange of staff, lecturers, and students between the two institutions.

Following that, on November 8, 2016, Irish President Michael Daniel Higgins will visit and speak to faculty and students of Vietnam National University, Hanoi on the topic of Sustainable Development.

 

Founded in 1845, University College Cork (UCC) is one of the oldest universities in Ireland. UCC boasts a rich tradition of teaching and research, with nearly 19,000 students enrolled, including approximately 2,000 international students from 75 countries worldwide, creating a highly internationalized and diverse learning environment.

UCC has eight faculties: Arts, Celtic Studies, Commerce, Law, Science, Food Technology, Medicine & Health, and Dentistry. University College Cork is strong in Information Technology and Biotechnology.
