On April 11, 2009, the 2009 Party Work Conference of the Party Committee of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities was successfully held.
Attending the conference were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Xuan Hang (Member of the Hanoi City Party Committee, Chairman of the Hanoi City Fatherland Front Committee), Prof. Dr. Vu Minh Giang (Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Vietnam National University, Hanoi), and leaders of several departments of Vietnam National University, Hanoi.
During the morning session, the Conference heard and discussed two reports:
Regarding personnel management, the Party Committee identified this as a key task for 2009. In the past period, the Party branches have performed their leadership duties in personnel management relatively well. However, some Party branches have not been proactive in planning for managerial personnel, have not invested much in training and developing young Party members, and the annual evaluation of cadres still shows reluctance to criticize or show favoritism.
The report on the school's personnel management work affirms that the quality of the staff in general and the teaching staff in particular is showing a positive development trend. However, in terms of structure, compared to the targets set by the Vietnam National University, Hanoi and the School's Party Congress for 2010, most have not been met. Regarding solutions, the report proposes that from after 2010, only lecturers with a master's degree or higher should be recruited, and after 2015, only lecturers with a doctoral degree should be recruited; it also suggests investing funds from various sources in the training and development of the staff.
At the beginning of the afternoon session, Associate Professor Dr. Dinh Van Huong (Head of the Party Committee's Propaganda Department) presented a preliminary report on the two-year implementation of the campaign "Studying and Following the Ideology and Morality of Ho Chi Minh". The leading solution proposed and emphasized was to continue "studying" but strongly shift to "following" the moral example of Ho Chi Minh in an effective and practical way in all activities of the University.
Also during the afternoon session, the Conference heard Associate Professor Dr. Lam Ba Nam (Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee) provide guidance on Party work, focusing on the leadership tasks of the Party branch, continuing to innovate the content of Party branch meetings, and especially the process of considering the admission of new Party members.
