Workshop on Information and Library Human Resources in the Era of Industrialization and Modernization

The workshop "Human Resources in the Information and Library Science Sector in Vietnam in the Face of the Requirements of Industrialization and Modernization of the Country" took place on April 24, 2009 at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. Attendees included delegates from Vietnam National University, Hanoi; Hue University; Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City; the Central Institute of Medical Information and Library Science; and the Hanoi Library.

Thirty presentations at the conference focused on the following main topics:

- The role of the Information and Library sector in the information society;

- The role and requirements of human resources in Information and Library Science in the context of the country's industrialization and modernization;

- Human resource requirements for information and library services in the organization and operation of modern libraries, digital libraries, and electronic libraries;

- The current state of human resources working in information and library agencies;

- The ability to meet the societal needs of the information and library human resource training sector;

- The role of information and library professionals in satisfying the information/documentation needs of information users;

- Solutions to improve the quality of human resources in information and library services.
