The summer course “Tam Dao Days” (abbreviated as JTD in French) was first held in 2007. The course provides participants with training in analytical methods in the social sciences – geography, economics, statistics, socio-anthropology, history, etc. – with nearly 100 participants from Southeast Asian countries each year. Initially, the course was held at the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences (VASS) in Hanoi and at the Tam Dao resort, not far from the capital. Subsequent courses were held at a university in a central or southern province, such as Da Lat University (2013 and 2014) and Duy Tan University (2015). Professor Stephane Lagrée invited the University of Social Sciences and Humanities to participate in organizing and contributing expertise to the 2016 course.

Associate Professor Pham Quang Minh (Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) welcomed and thanked Professor Stephane Lagrée for his proposal. As a prestigious institution for training and research in social sciences and humanities in Vietnam, the Rector believes that the University will fulfill its role in contributing to the organization and content of the 2016 JTD course. The University will also select lecturers, researchers, and postgraduate students to participate in the course.

The JTD course will last 10 days. The planned theme for the 2016 course is Energy Transition from a Social Sciences and Humanities Perspective. To begin the course, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities will sign a formal cooperation agreement with the Social Sciences Solidarity Fund as soon as possible.
