Opening Ceremony of the 2016 Militia and Self-Defense Force Training Course

Attending the opening ceremony were Dr. Trinh Thuy Giang, Political Commissar and Head of the Personnel Department of the University of Science; Dr. Ngo Thi Kieu Oanh, Deputy Political Commissar and Head of the Personnel Department of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities; Mr. Nguyen Van Thuy, Head of the Inspection and Legal Affairs Department and Deputy Commander of the militia force of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities; representatives of Power Construction Consulting Joint Stock Company 1 and Lac Hong Investment Joint Stock Company; and members of the military command and soldiers from both universities.

The training of the militia force is an annual activity, regularly organized by two universities within the Vietnam National University system: the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and the University of Natural Sciences. This training session also included the participation of two new units: Power Construction Consulting Joint Stock Company 1 and Lac Hong Investment Joint Stock Company. This is a necessary and useful activity at the present time. The training period for the militia force is approximately 10 days (from August 2nd to August 10th, 2015), including 3 days of sports competition and supplementary training.

The training course aims to further strengthen and enhance the political fortitude of the militia and self-defense forces. As major training and scientific research centers of the country, this spirit and fortitude are demonstrated through a deep political awareness and readiness to fight.

As part of the self-defense militia force in Thanh Xuan District, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and the University of Natural Sciences contribute alongside relevant forces to protect security and order in the capital city, especially during the current period of heightened political tensions. This training session also serves as an opportunity to select deserving individuals to participate in district-level and city-level self-defense militia competitions.

Comrade Nguyen Van Thuy (Deputy Commander of the militia force of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) delivered a speech at the opening ceremony.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Comrade Nguyen Van Thuy, Deputy Commander of the Militia and Self-Defense Force of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, wished the trainees good health and successful completion of the course. Comrade Nguyen Van Thuy emphasized that the officers must strictly comply with the assignments and directives of the leadership and the Military Command of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and the University of Natural Sciences. Regarding learning, they must fully participate in the content and progress of the training. Furthermore, the course will help officers to interact, network, and expand their relationships, and strengthen connections between units to spread shared values.

Comrade Ngo Tuan Thang (from the Department of International Studies, University of Social Sciences and Humanities), on behalf of the militia force, pledged to successfully complete the course.
