Sponsored by the Japan Foundation, on the morning of September 18, 2015, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU, in collaboration with the Institute of Asia Pacific Studies (Japan) organized an international conference on “Vietnam – Indochina – Japan Relations during World War II – Documents and Perceptions”. The conference attracted the participation of many scientists from Japan, France, China, Thailand, Singapore and Vietnam.
World War II is long gone, but what that war caused forced humanity to think: "how to have an eternal peace". To achieve that goal, as well as to strengthen relations with Southeast Asian countries, as a leading university in Vietnam, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities always attaches importance to historical research, including the history between Vietnam and Japan. In recent years, with the enthusiastic and effective support of the Japan Exchange Fund and many other international funds, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has organized many international scientific conferences such as: 100 years of the Eastern Travel Movement; Towards the East Asian Community - Opportunities and Challenges; Vietnam - Japan Relations in the New Era and the New Generation; Seminar on cultural history and cultural diplomacy, the vitality of Vietnam - Japan diplomatic relations in the new international and regional context... These activities have truly contributed to improving the quality of training and research of the School, especially the Japanese Studies major.
The workshop “Vietnam – Indochina – Japan relations during World War II – Documents and perceptions” once again focused on presenting and analyzing aspects of cultural history, political and diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan and between Japan and the Indochinese countries during World War II.
This is also an opportunity for Vietnamese, Japanese and international scientists to share new research results, new documents, and new assessments on a very special historical topic, aiming at a deeper and more comprehensive understanding of the relationship between Vietnam and Japan and the Indochinese countries during World War II. The conference will take place on September 18 and 19 with 2 subcommittees, each with 3 discussion sessions.
