Hanoi National University students say no to cigarettes

In response to World No Tobacco Day (May 31), on the evening of May 30, the final night of the contest “Learning about the Law on Prevention of Tobacco Harms” took place at the 8th floor auditorium of Building E, University of Social Sciences and Humanities. The contest attracted the attention and participation of many students from units under the Vietnam National University, Hanoi.

The competition night was attended by Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Kim - Party Secretary, Vice Principal of the School; Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan - Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Executive Committee; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Luong Ngoc Khue - Director of the Department of Medical Examination and Treatment Management, Director of the Tobacco Harm Prevention Fund; Mr. Nguyen Xuan Hung - Member of the Standing Committee, Chief of the Central Youth Union Office; Mr. Trinh Minh Thai - Member of the Executive Committee, Deputy Chief of the Central Youth Union Office. In addition, the competition also welcomed the presence of the Youth Union Secretaries of participating units and the presence of many students from the units.

It is known that “Learning about the law on tobacco harm prevention” is a contest to encourage members and students of Hanoi city to learn about the law on tobacco harm prevention and find good initiatives to prevent the harmful effects of tobacco. The contest is directed by the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and the Tobacco Harm Prevention Fund (Ministry of Health) and hosted by the Youth Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.

The final night on May 30 is a live competition between the 5 best teams from the following units: University of Technology, University of Natural Sciences, University of Education, Faculty of Law - VNU and University of Social Sciences and Humanities. The teams will have to go through 3 rounds: Greeting, Knowledge and Initiative, to win points from the judges. The 3 judges who directly score the teams include: Prof. Dr. Luong Ngoc Khue - Director of the Department of Medical Examination and Treatment Management; Dr. Nguyen Quang Lieu - Vice President of the VNU Trade Union; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dinh Van Dung - Deputy Head of the Department of Politics and Student Affairs of VNU.

After 3 exciting and thrilling rounds, the contest has found the owners of the grand prizes. Specifically:

  • First Prize: Team from Faculty of Law - VNU

  • Second Prize: Team from University of Science

  • Third Prize: Team from University of Education

  • Encouragement Prize: Teams from University of Technology and University of Social Sciences and Humanities

  • Best Supporter Award: Supporter from University of Technology

In addition, the Final Night also had an individual award ceremony for the best article based on the number of views on the program's fanpage. This prize worth 1 million VND went to Nguyen Thi Van - University of Natural Sciences.

Dr. Tran Bach Hieu - Head of the Organizing Committee of the competition presented souvenirs to the teams.

Comrade Nguyen Anh Tuan - Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Executive Committee presented flowers to the three judges of the competition night.

Overview of round 2 of the competition

Round 2 of the competition requires you to have a solid understanding of tobacco and its harmful effects. In this round, the Faculty of Law successfully guessed the program's keywords after only 3 rounds of question selection by the teams.
