I. Purpose and Significance

  • This is an opportunity for students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities to showcase their professional skills, intellect, and enthusiasm, contributing to the socio-economic and cultural development of several localities.
  • This creates opportunities for students of the school to interact and exchange experiences in youth union work and student movements with young people from several localities.
  • Creating opportunities for students to engage with real-life situations and combining theory with practice contributes to building the right motivation for learning.
  • Through the summer volunteer program, young people can hone their political acumen and professional skills, contributing to improved effectiveness of the Youth Union and Student Association.
  • Meeting the needs of young union members and students to contribute their energy to the cause of industrialization and modernization of the country.

II. Operating Principles

  • Emphasize the spirit of student volunteerism and the proactive role of student unions and associations in organizing and implementing activities.
  • Prioritize volunteer activities that are related to your professional expertise.
  • Volunteer activities must be safe, practical, economical, and effective.

III. Activity Content

  • Organize cultural education programs for local students;
  • To disseminate and promote the policies and guidelines of the Party and the State, and the resolutions of the Youth Union Congress at all levels;
  • Propagating Ho Chi Minh's ideology through various forms depending on the area of ​​operation;
  • Coordinate with local authorities to organize activities commemorating the Day of War Invalids and Martyrs, visit and give gifts to families who have rendered meritorious services to the revolution, and support poor but academically优秀 students;
  • Promoting traffic safety;
  • Coordinate with local authorities to organize campaigns to raise awareness and prevent social vices;
  • Organize and participate in cultural, artistic, and sports activities, as well as cultural exchanges between students and local youth;
  • Participate in organizing summer activities for local youth;
  • Organize youth forces to participate in serving during the university entrance examination.

IV. Models of Summer 2008 Volunteer Activities

1. Activities to support the university entrance exam and exam preparation season.

- Activity content:Participated in supporting the 2008 university entrance exam; Participated in activitiesSupporting students during exam seasonat the school's recruitment locations and at bus stations (as assigned and directed by the Hanoi Youth Union).

- The core force for this operation is the Assault Team.

- Implementation timeFrom June 30th to July 10th, 2008

2. Activities of Clubs, Organizations, Teams, and Groups

ButContent: Organizing free classes in Vietnamese classical script (Han Nom Club, South Korea) in Hanoi.

ButTime: From June 20th to August 20th, 2008

ButIn charge of: Comrade Pham Huy Cuong – Deputy Secretary of the School Youth Union; Comrade Nguyen Trung Kien – Member of the Standing Committee of the School Youth Union.

3. Volunteer activities in accordance with the guidelines of the Hanoi National University Student Union.

- Location: Ha Tay Province, Hoa Binh Province

- TimeFrom July 15th to August 5th, 2008

- QuantitySeven teams will be deployed to operate in seven communes (five communes in Thach That district, Ha Tay province; and two communes in Luong Son district, Hoa Binh province).

- Organizational structure: Five communes in Thach That district will be assigned to their respective Youth Union branches/Associations to register independently; two communes in Luong Son district will be divided into two teams: one team will consist of 50 students selected from units within the university (or one inter-faculty team); the remaining team will be a combination of students from three universities (University of Social Sciences and Humanities, University of Natural Sciences - Vietnam National University, Hanoi, and Hanoi University of Civil Engineering).

- ImplementationThe Executive Committee of the Student Union assigns responsibility to Comrade Trinh Minh Thai - Deputy Secretary, President of the Student Union; and Comrade Nguyen Mai Lan - Vice President of the Student Union, to directly supervise and implement this activity.

3. Volunteer models of student unions and associations.

3.1. Content Orientation

In addition to the above activities, units may register their own specific volunteer model (based on the approval of the 2008 Summer Volunteer Steering Committee). The volunteer model of each unit should focus on the following areas of work:

  • The activities contribute to improving the quality of life in the area, implementing a number of activities such as: promoting the building of a healthy and civilized lifestyle; promoting reproductive health; preventing social evils and protecting the environment; participating in activities with broad social significance in the locality (protecting and building local social infrastructure);
  • Participate in activities expressing gratitude and appreciation, helping and caring for policy beneficiaries and those in difficult circumstances;
  • Encourage activities that are related to one's professional field.

* The Student Union Committee encourages interdisciplinary volunteer models (with the cooperation of two or more faculties) linked to professional expertise.

3.2. Operating Hours: The peak of this activity period will take place from July 10th to August 10th. However, organizations can begin volunteering from the time students start their summer break.

3.3. Directing implementationThe Executive Committee of the University's Youth Union assigns responsibility to Comrade Nguyen Truong Son – Vice President of the University's Student Union – to direct this activity.

4. Students who are unable to participate in these programs will receive a summer activity voucher for 2008.(Participation in local programs and activities) should be confirmed at the Youth Union - Student Association Office of the University from June 10th to June 25th. Confirmation forms for local participation should be sent to the Youth Union - Student Association Office of the University before August 31st, 2008.

VI. Implementation progress

1.April and May 2008

  • Develop an action plan and seek guidance from the school's leadership.
  • Each unit submitted a list of student volunteers from their unit to the Summer 2008 Volunteer Steering Committee;
  • Completed the 2008 summer volunteer training program for all volunteers in the school.
  • Develop a plan to seek funding for summer volunteer activities;
  • Meeting to launch the 2008 summer volunteer activities;
  • Complete the core student skills training program;
  • The units develop activity plans, register to carry out activities, organize preliminary visits, and seek funding.

2. June 2008

  • Continuing preparations for summer volunteering in 2008.
  • Organize training sessions at the faculty and university levels.
  • Organizing the Summer Volunteer Campaign Launch Ceremony 2008 (specific announcements will be sent to each unit)
