On April 21, 2008, Associate Professor Pham Gia Lam met and worked with a delegation from Lijiang Academy (Guangxi Normal University – China), led by Professor Liu Xiyuan (Permanent Vice President). During the meeting, the two sides discussed and signed a cooperation agreement regarding the University of Social Sciences and Humanities accepting students from Lijiang Academy to study Vietnamese.
This is a formal cooperation agreement following the framework agreement signed by both sides in 2006. Currently, 22 students from Ly Giang Academy are studying Vietnamese Language and Culture in the Department of Linguistics.
According to this agreement, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities agrees to accept Chinese students sent by Lijiang Academy to study Vietnamese linguistics at the Faculty of Linguistics, with each class having no more than 30 students and a study period of 10 months per academic year. Courses will be arranged according to the Lijiang Academy curriculum.
This agreement is effective from the date of signing until July 31, 2009. Annually, both parties will review and consider renewing the agreement.
