Overview of the opening ceremony
In his welcoming speech, Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh (Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) sent his congratulations to more than 2,000 new students of K63 of the University. This is the largest number of new students ever to join the common home of Humanities.
Looking back at the activities in the past school year, the Rector assessed that the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has achieved many outstanding achievements such as: establishing the Institute of Journalism and Communication Training with a model towards autonomy and high quality; 19 staff members were awarded the titles of Professor and Associate Professor; more than 2,000 first-year students enrolled, of which for the first time, more than 80 students chose Southeast Asian Studies - the first major to enroll students; Literature is the 4th training program to meet the quality standards of the ASEAN University Network (AUN); the school's staff have 60 international publications, of which 10 articles were published in high-impact journals and hundreds of domestic publications. Also in the past year, thousands of staff members and students of the school participated in exchange programs abroad. The trend of internationalization is increasingly evident in all activities of the school.

Sharing about the globalization trend and its relationship with localization, Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh advised the new students: if you want to integrate with the world, you must first integrate with people of the same origin; if you want to internationalize the world, you must first internationalize your own home. However, let's "integrate, not dissolve".
The Principal beats the drum to open the new school year 2018-2019
Prof. Dr. Vu Minh Giang (Chairman of the VNU Science and Training Council) also shared a few words at the solemn opening ceremony of the University. The speech emphasized the role of human resources in the development of the country. "The most valuable resource for each country is its people", the Professor hopes that students will always be aware of the importance of education, while fostering an entrepreneurial spirit and a sense of commitment to participate in the ever-changing and unpredictable labor market in the future.

Representing the School's partners, Chairman of the Dao Minh Quang Foundation spoke at the opening ceremony: The Dao Minh Quang Foundation is a symbol of my love and gratitude to my parents, family, teachers, friends, and citizens of Vietnam and Germany. My teachers have given me a lot of knowledge and experience. Thanks to that, I realized that knowledge is power. Therefore, today, I want to pass on those precious values to generations of students - those who have the courage to change their lives.

Also at the opening ceremony, the school awarded prizes to the 5 valedictorians of the 63rd course, students with excellent academic achievements, students with high achievements in scientific research activities and the valedictorian of 2018.
Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh awarded certificates of merit to outstanding students receiving scientific research awards from VNU.
Along with that, many units and enterprises such as Dao Minh Quang Foundation (Germany), AEON Group, Phuong Dong Medical Group, PVI Insurance Company also awarded valuable scholarships to students of the School.

On behalf of more than 2,000 students of the QH-2018-X course, valedictorian Nguyen Thi Thuy Linh (Faculty of Oriental Studies) expressed her joy and excitement at becoming a new student of the School and promised to always strive to practice and study so that "today we are proud of the School and in the future the School will be proud of us".
