Receive and work with the delegation of Macau City University (China)

At the meeting, Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh introduced the University of Social Sciences and Humanities - the leading institution in research and training in Social Sciences and Humanities in Vietnam. Initially implementing basic sciences such as Philosophy, History, Literature, Languages, etc., the University of Social Sciences and Humanities later developed more highly applicable majors such as Management Science, Tourism Studies, Social Work, Journalism, Public Relations, etc. The University currently has 24 undergraduate training programs, 41 master's programs and 31 doctoral programs. Regarding international cooperation, the University has signed memorandums of cooperation with more than 300 foreign partners. The Rector hopes that the University will soon implement cooperation with Macau City University through activities such as student and lecturer exchanges, conducting joint research projects, and co-organizing international conferences.

On behalf of Macau City University, Prof. Kong Fanqing thanked the University for its warm welcome and invited the delegation to the Opening Ceremony of the 2018-2019 academic year of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. She said that Social Sciences and Humanities is also a research and training focus of the other side. With similarities in professional fields, the two universities will certainly be able to implement effective and rapid cooperation. She invited the President and staff and lecturers of the University to visit Macau City University in the near future.

Next, Dr. Chau Gia Hien (Deputy Dean of the International Tourism and Management Academy, Macau City University) introduced the Academy. The Academy was established in September 2011. The Academy has two bachelor's and master's programs in International Tourism and Hospitality Management, and a doctoral program in International Tourism Management. The Academy has 2,800 undergraduate students and 150 postgraduate students. The Academy wants to establish a bilateral relationship with the Faculty of Tourism Studies of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, especially after participating in the workshop "The Link between Mobility and Tourism: Creating Social Sustainability" organized by the Faculty on September 20-21.

As a private university, Macau City University was established in 1981 as the University of East Asia, and was renamed to its current name in 2011. The university currently has about 5,300 students and trainees, including 700 local students, nearly 2,500 students from mainland China, and nearly 100 international students. The institutes and facilities under the university are the International Institute of Management and Tourism, the Institute of Social Sciences and Humanities, the Institute of Education, the Institute of Urban Management and Research, the Institute of Law, the Open Institute, and the School of Continuing Education.
