On September 25, 2018, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan (Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) along with representatives from the Faculty of Tourism Studies and the Office of Cooperation and Development met and worked with Ms. Djhoanna Lambert (School of Social Sciences and Humanities, Massey University).

During the meeting, Associate Professor Hoang Anh Tuan introduced the University of Social Sciences and Humanities – a leading institution for research and training in social sciences and humanities in Vietnam. The university currently offers 24 undergraduate programs, 41 master's programs, and 31 doctoral programs. The university has extensive cooperation with New Zealand partners; this is evidenced by several visits and presentations given by New Zealand ambassadors, such as James Kember (2009), Haike Manning (2013), and Wendy Matthews (2017). The Vice Rector expressed hope that the two universities could promote cooperation in student exchange through short-term programs and 2+2 and 3+1 models.

On behalf of the Faculty of Tourism Studies, Ms. Nguyen Ngoc Dung (Deputy Head of Faculty) stated that the Faculty currently offers two bachelor's degree programs in Tourism and Travel Service Management and Hotel Management. The Faculty has organized numerous international tourism conferences, most recently the conference "The Link Between Mobility and Tourism: Creating Social Sustainability" on September 20-21. In addition to student and faculty exchanges, the Faculty hopes to co-organize conferences and conduct joint research projects with Massey University.

On behalf of Massey University, Ms. Djhoanna Lambert expressed her appreciation for the warm welcome and willingness to cooperate from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. She stated that, in addition to regular programs, Massey University offers attractive summer courses such as the National Expedition and Internship Program. This program allows students to explore a country for two weeks and complete a four-week internship in Northern Hemisphere countries. Furthermore, Massey University offers approximately 150 online courses for international students, including courses in the social sciences and humanities such as Economics, History, Linguistics, Philosophy, Politics, and Media Studies.

Associate Professor Hoang Anh Tuan shared his views on the proposals from Ms. Djhonna Lambert and committed to selecting suitable candidates to participate in the courses offered by her. The Vice Rector also hoped that, in the future, the two universities could expand cooperation to master's and doctoral levels.

Founded in 1927, Massey University is one of the largest universities in New Zealand. It currently has three campuses: Albany, Manawatu, and Wellington. Each year, more than 3,000 international students from over 100 countries study at Massey. The university has five main faculties: Business, Arts, Education, Social Sciences and Humanities, and Science. In Vietnam, Massey University has collaborated with the University of Economics, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, to implement joint doctoral programs in Applied Economics and Finance-Banking, as well as joint bachelor's programs in Economics and Finance.
