Receiving representatives of Massey University (New Zealand)

On September 25, 2018, Associate Professor Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan (Vice Principal of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) and representatives of the Faculty of Tourism Studies and the Office of Cooperation and Development received and worked with Ms. Djhoanna Lambert (School of Social Sciences and Humanities, Massey University).

At the meeting, Associate Professor Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan introduced the University of Social Sciences and Humanities - the leading institution in research and training in Social Sciences and Humanities in Vietnam. The university currently has 24 undergraduate programs, 41 master's programs and 31 doctoral programs. The university has extensive cooperation with New Zealand partners; this is demonstrated by the fact that many New Zealand ambassadors have visited and presented to students such as Mr. James Kember (2009), Mr. Haike Manning (2013) and Ms. Wendy Matthews (2017). The Vice President hopes that the two universities can promote cooperation in student exchange through short-term programs, 2+2, 3+1 models.

On behalf of the Faculty of Tourism Studies, MSc. Nguyen Ngoc Dung (Deputy Dean) said that the Faculty currently offers two bachelor's programs in Tourism and Travel Services Management and Hotel Management. The Faculty has organized many international conferences on tourism, the most recent of which was the conference "The Link between Mobility and Tourism: Creating Social Sustainability" on September 20-21. In addition to student and lecturer exchanges, the Faculty hopes to co-organize conferences and conduct joint research projects with Massey University.

On behalf of the host country, Ms. Djhoanna Lambert highly appreciated the welcome and goodwill of cooperation from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. She said that in addition to regular programs, Massey University offers attractive summer courses such as the National Expedition and Internship Program. This course allows students to explore the country for 2 weeks and intern for 4 weeks in Northern Hemisphere countries. In addition, Massey University offers about 150 online courses for international students, including Social Sciences and Humanities courses such as Economics, History, Linguistics, Philosophy, Politics, and Media Studies.

Associate Professor Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan shared the proposals from Ms. Djhonna Lambert and committed to selecting suitable candidates to participate in the courses provided by her side. The Vice President also hoped that in the future, the two schools could expand their cooperation to the master's and doctoral levels.

Massey University was founded in 1927 and is one of the largest universities in New Zealand. The university currently has 3 training facilities: Albany, Manawatu and Wellington. Each year, more than 3,000 international students from more than 100 countries study at Massey. The university has 5 main faculties: Business, Arts, Education, Social Sciences and Humanities, Science. In Vietnam, Massey University has cooperated with the University of Economics, VNU to implement a joint training program for PhD in Applied Economics, Finance - Banking; a joint training program for Bachelor of Economics - Finance.
