Introducing the work "Sweet Burden" and exchanging with Taiwanese writer Ngo Thinh

This book is one of the collaborative products between the Faculty of Literature (University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU) and the Faculty of Chinese Literature (National Cheng Kung University, Taiwan), within the framework of the comprehensive professional cooperation program between the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU and partners from Taiwan (China). The book was translated by two lecturers of the Faculty of Literature, MSc. Nguyen Thanh Dien and Dr. Nguyen Thu Hien, and published by Literature Publishing House in 2018.

At the book launch, on the side of the partners from Taiwan, in addition to the presence of poet Ngo Thinh and his wife, there was also the presence of Mr. Thach Thuy Ky (Chief Representative of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office) in Vietnam and other representatives of the Office, Ms. Tieu Thuc Trinh (Deputy Director of the National Taiwan Literature Museum), Prof. Tran Ich Nguyen (lecturer at National Cheng Kung University and also Director of the Institute of Social Sciences and Humanities, Kinmen University), lecturers from many universities in Taiwan and many other delegates.

On the Vietnamese side, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities had the presence of Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh (Rector), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan (Vice Rector), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Xuan Thach (Head of the Faculty of Literature) along with staff, lecturers and students of the Faculty of Literature. The Director of the Literature Publishing House - the unit that cooperated and published the book "Sweet Shoulder" in Vietnam was also present at this event. This book launch also attracted the attention of many representatives from agencies and units inside and outside the university such as the Faculty of Oriental Studies, the Center for Chinese Studies (University of Social Sciences and Humanities), the Institute of Literature Research, the Institute of Cultural Research, the Institute of Han Nom Studies (Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences), the National Library of Vietnam, the Hanoi Library, the Publishing House of Hanoi National University of Education...

In the solemn atmosphere of the book launch, Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh (Principal of the School), Ms. Tieu Thuc Trinh (Deputy Director of the Taiwan Literature Museum), Dr. Nguyen Anh Vu (Director of Literature Publishing House), Mr. Thach Thuy Ky (Chief Representative of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Vietnam) gave speeches to congratulate the event.

The discussion with writer Ngo Thinh and guests from professional units also attracted the deep interest of many audiences, especially students of the Faculty of Literature, University of Social Sciences and Humanities. The book “Sweet Shoulder” by writer Ngo Thinh being translated and introduced in Vietnam is an event that contributes to enhancing mutual understanding between the people of Vietnam and Taiwan (China), demonstrating the results of cooperative efforts between agencies and universities of the two sides.
