On November 16, 2012, the Faculty of Management Science solemnly celebrated its 10th anniversary (2002-2012).Attending the commemoration ceremony were Mr. Nguyen Cong Soai - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi City Party Committee; Mr. Trinh Ngoc Thach - Deputy Chairman of the National Assembly's Committee on Culture, Youth and Children; Mr. Ho Quang Loi - Head of the Hanoi City Party Committee's Propaganda Department; Professor Dr. Nguyen Minh Thuyet - former Deputy Chairman of the National Assembly's Committee on Culture, Education, Youth and Children, former Head of the Department of Management Science; Associate Professor Dr. Pham Xuan Hang - former Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, former Head of the Faculty of Management Science; Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh – Rector of the University – along with representatives from central agencies and departments, professors, scientists, staff, and generations of students from the Faculty of Management Science… Over the past 10 years of construction and development, the Faculty of Management Science has gradually developed into a high-quality training and research institution, effectively meeting the needs for management human resources in the period of industrialization and modernization of the country. Dr. Tran Van Hai – Head of the Faculty of Management Science – in his welcoming speech at the 10th anniversary celebration of the Faculty, reviewed the outstanding achievements of the Faculty over the past 10 years in various aspects of its activities. Specifically: In terms of training over the past 10 years, the Faculty of Management Science has trained 1,080 full-time bachelors (including 107 high-quality bachelors), 1,022 part-time students, and 252 masters in Science and Technology Management. Particularly since 2004, the Faculty has been one of four units of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities tasked with training high-quality undergraduate students, and since 2010, it has been assigned the additional task of training Master of Science in Management. Currently, the Faculty is preparing to undertake the task of training Doctoral students in Science and Technology Management starting in 2013. From initially having only two departments, the Faculty now has four departments responsible for training and research, with 21 full-time lecturers, 11 part-time lecturers, and more than 30 visiting lecturers from universities and research institutes both domestically and internationally.
The scientific research activities of the faculty have contributed to improving the professional capacity of lecturers and the quality of training. In recent years, the Faculty of Management Science has collaborated with the Intellectual Property Office to organize the Student Scientific Conference on Intellectual Property, attracting the participation of students from the Faculty and several universities in Hanoi. The system of textbooks, lectures, and reference materials has always been emphasized; to date, the Faculty has developed 84 complete sets of learning materials for 89 subjects in the undergraduate program and 21 sets of learning materials for 24 specialized topics in the master's program. Also on this occasion, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Xuan Hang – former Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, former Head of the Faculty of Management Science – was honored to receive the First Class Labor Medal from the President of Vietnam.
Speaking at the ceremony, Comrade Ho Quang Loi congratulated the Faculty of Management Science and extended his best wishes to the teachers of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities on the 30th anniversary of Vietnamese Teachers' Day. Given the increasing societal demand for management personnel, he expressed his hope that the Faculty of Management Science would continue to be proactive, innovative, and a reliable institution for training and developing high-quality management human resources for the country. On behalf of the University leadership, Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh – Rector – congratulated and highly appreciated the achievements of the Faculty of Management Science over the past 10 years of its development. The university leadership hopes and believes that the faculty and students of the Faculty of Management Science will continue to strive for excellence, effectively implementing training programs at all three levels: bachelor's, master's, and doctoral, promoting scientific research, and expanding cooperation both domestically and internationally, so as to quickly elevate the Faculty to the status of a leading center for management and policy training and research in Vietnam and the region in the future.
