Dr. Nguyen Quang Lieu (Head of the Political and Student Affairs Department): “Political and ideological education activities must be practical for students.”
In 2014, the Department of Politics & Student Affairs (CT&CTSV) organized many practical and beneficial programs and activities for students throughout the university. Dr. Nguyen Quang Lieu could not hide his excitement when talking about the successes of the past 365 days:The "Student Ambassador" program, the first PhD awarding ceremony held at the university, the first graduating class of Vietnamese students from the Department of Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language… And there are so many events, so many memories that, when recalled, make me feel happy and proud. Especially because these were all events organized for the first time at the university. But perhaps the two weeks of film screenings for students is the program that impressed me the most."
The two weeks of films that Mr. Nguyen Quang Lieu mentioned were screenings of historical films commemorating the occasion.60 years since the liberation of Dien Bien Phu. and the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army. The program was organized through a collaboration between the Vietnam Film Institute, the Me Tri Dormitory Management Board, and the University. This is a practical program for students, especially since the film "The smell of burnt grassWhen the film "..." was screened at the school, students, staff, and faculty members had the opportunity to directly interact with the director, screenwriter, and lead actors. Through these vivid images, students gained a better understanding of the glorious historical years experienced by previous generations. These films also revealed the image of a generation of former University students in the "..." movement.Put aside your pen and ink and go to war.", representing the ideals of national independence and socialism.

"It seems that programs aimed at educating students about patriotic traditions and national pride are lacking in the credit-based training model at major universities. However, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has maintained and performed this task very well and effectively, with a different approach: integrating political and ideological education with cultural and artistic activities or events for young people. This is how students are awakened to national pride and a sense of responsibility in their studies and training."Dr. Nguyen Quang Lieu assessed.
In 2015, the organizational forms of political and ideological education and traditional education activities will undergo more diverse innovations to meet the needs of a "demanding" target group: students, Professor Lieu affirmed:It needs to be diverse, not just showing movies or music every year. For me, the most important factor is how to help young people and students understand the issues in the most meaningful way."..."

In 2014, with the mid-term congress, the Youth Union welcomed a new "leader," Master Tran Bach Hieu - lecturer in the Faculty of Political Science. In the first few months of his tenure, the new Secretary of the Youth Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities left his mark with the event "Freshman Orientation Day 2014"
When the event was mentioned, the eyes of the school's Youth Union Secretary lit up, and he expressed:This event has brought about a significant change in the way the Youth Union and Student Association of the university have organized themselves over the years. Master Pham Van Hue (Training Department Specialist) and a year of "bumper harvest"
Mr. Pham Van Hue, M.Sc., is a former psychology student but has been a specialist in the university's Training Department since 2008. For him, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities is not simply a place to study, but has long become his second home.
The teacher confided:As a freshman, I was very sad because the university was predominantly female. But when the professors in the Psychology department, and the professors in general, showed concern and guided me in my research, I found my passion, and from then on, I participated in all activities. Surprisingly, I was offered a position at the university; that was a great stroke of luck for me at the Faculty of Humanities. It's like a family here, where the relationships between teachers and students, students and students, and colleagues are incredibly close."
When asked about his impressions of 2014, Mr. Hue couldn't hide his happiness because he received many certificates of merit and achievements from the school during the past year:2014 was a very successful year for me personally. In that year, I received a commendation from the Principal, was recognized as an outstanding worker, a model young person at the grassroots level, and most happily, I was admitted into the Communist Party of Vietnam."
At the beginning of spring 2015, Mr. Pham Van Hue, M.Sc., also extended his best wishes to all staff, lecturers, and students in the school. He also expressed his hopes for a new year filled with success:Our ancestors used to say that health is everything. I also wish everyone good health. I hope students achieve good grades in their exams and actively participate in scientific research. If you all study well, our school will have brighter prospects and greater success."..."

MSc. Pham Van Hue
Student Mai Mai (K56 International Studies) and her memorable trip to Singapore.
Mai Mai is one of five students from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities participating in “ASEAN Youth Role Model WorkshopThe 2014 conference was held at Singapore Polytechnic University (Singapore). At the conference, this girl with the unique name had the opportunity to "play the role" of a head of state, working alongside students from other Southeast Asian countries to address the most pressing issues in the region – an honor not every Vietnamese student gets.
Mai Mai went abroad, but she carried the image of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in her heart. She confided sincerely:Always remember that going to Singapore is no longer as "Mai Mai," but as a student of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, a Vietnamese student. I am always proud to be a student of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities."
Mai Mai subtly promoted the image of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities:When participating in such a large-scale ASEAN event, students mainly remember each other's country names. When introducing myself, even though I knew the name of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities was quite long when translated into English, I always said the full name accurately to other international students. Furthermore, I wore my school badge and had items bearing the school's image, so I could point to them and say, "This is my school," or give them to international students. This was to keep the image of my homeland, Vietnam, and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities shining brightly in everyone's minds."
Mai Mai also made a rather witty comparison between Singapore Polytechnic University and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities:This school is much larger than ours. However, it also has a drawback: the campus is so vast that students don't get to know each other very well. One student said that even if they arrive early, they can still be late because the distance from the school gate to the classroom is still quite far. That just goes to show that our school, being small, also has its advantages."

In conclusion
Four perspectives from four individuals offer four different impressions of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in 2014. Many other faculty members, staff, and students also have their own unique impressions of the university. They have dedicated themselves to the institution and consider it an indispensable part of their lives. A new spring has arrived, a year filled with many important national anniversaries, and especially the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Faculty of Literature and the 20th anniversary of the University's founding. Faculty members, staff, and students look forward to this significant celebration and to 2015, with the hope of creating even more unforgettable memories.
